Boro 1st timers

Hey all,

First timer posting here and also first time going to Bulgaria (Borovets). Arriving 28 Jan for a week.

I am the lead passenger with a fairly large group of 11 of us.
We're staying at the Flora self-catering apartments

What can we expect?
We have transfers booked (payable on arrival at Sofia). Prices have been quoted in Euros, will these be accepted, or should we have LEV's?

Hope to have a cracking time!

Welcome Garrick,
Fairly new poster myself, third time to Borovets this Feb. Its a fab place and people . There are plenty of people on here who can answer your question, sadly not me! But the White House at the top of the Gondola and Bobbys bar in Borovets itself are definately worth a visit. Have a cracking holiday .

John

Hello Garrick
Been to Borovets last 6 years top place for laughs and meeting great people.
The resort is really lively with great choices of bars and eating places where food and drinks are excellent value.
Not stayed in your complex so cant comment but am sure its pretty central for all the action.
Anyway am sure once you have been you will fal;l in love with the resort

Been to Boro 4 times and back 14th Jan so that must tell you something! Stayed at Flora a few years ago half board and liked it. Good location and a nice building. What to expect...in my opinion, if you went to Borovets looking for things to complain about you could find them but if you go looking for fun at a good price I think you'll have loads. I enjoy the all day lessons over lunch as meeting new people in the ski group has always been a big part of it for me. As you're self catering, ...

I enjoy the all day lessons over lunch as meeting new people in the ski group has always been a big part of it for me. As you're self catering, trying out the different resturants in the evening is fun. At lunch maybe try out soups and salads as these seem to be a bit of a Bulgarian speciality and often great. We usually start in the Titanic bar by the bottom of the main slope but there are loads to choose from (try the Zombie cocktail!). Keep everything crossed for decent snow and have fun. p.s. Brandy hot chocolate always good if it's cold!

Wow Emjay...thought I'd been there a lot but 10 times beats me hands down. Is this a record?

re: Boro 1st timers

Thanks for the replies Smile

We tend to be the sort that goes out for snow and not necessarily the accommodation.

We're used to roughing it a bit, but have also lived it up on some holidays too. I guess we'll take whatever comes!

Any ideas on accepted currency?
Even on this site there are some prices quoted in Euros, but have heard Euros & Sterling is not accepted and that it's LEVs only?

Cheers,
G

A warm welcome Garrick,
You will be in good company that week, I and some old regulars are heading out that week. Also staying at the Flora so we should all bump into one another some time. Skiers or Boarder ? Plenty of people on the board if you have any questions. Currency prefered would be crisp £20 notes with the best exchange rate being given from the banks ( unless you know Igor Cool)

Where are you flying from ? If you havn't already and are on Face Book check out Bobbys Bar ...
