Mixed group of skiiers and boarders going on the 28th to Borovets for the 1st time. Some beginners-some on their 2nd holiday and some experienced. Can beginners ski from the very top down? Or will they be limited to the lower slopes?
Went to Bor two years ago i was a beginner boarder and we had intermediate ski-ers and boarders too and it was great. Not so good for advanced but ace for the rest!!
By the end of 3 days with the board school i was going from top to bottom - you'll have loads of fun!!
Borovets, is ideal, by the end of the holiday you must give the Gondola a go, its quite a journey for a beginer but well worth it, I made it down after my 3 days of tuition and it felt fantastic, a real adventure.
Its all down the the indeviduals confidence really, you can try whatever run you like, however the lessons tend to stay on the lower slopes to begin with, however, on my third and final boarding lesson we went up the chair and did the mountain as a group..enjoy the lessons though, they are such a laugh with plenty of banter.
Going back to boro on the 28th with 3 other boarders and 1 Skier.... counting the days
ive had a weeks skiing in Pamporovo with tuition last year and a few days in Glenshee and was confidently doing blues last year. I hope ive not forgot everything ! Theres some who are going for the 1st time but it would be good to get them up the top after their lessons. Is there any greens down from the top or are they reds, blues and blacks? I cant make out the piste map!
on the mountain outside the Rila, (where all the tuition takes place) there is a green, a little narrow on places but should be fine.
The other mountains (Yastrebets - up the gondola) Ther e is the new Musala pathway.. a greencoming all the way down, this is new for this year so I do not know what it is like, any comments anyone?
There is a green run at the top of the gondola, with a drag lift, I found this to be wide and shallow, perfect to learn on, if you are fine with drag lifts.
On the piste map on the Borovets mountain (the one outside the Rila) a green is shown runnig from the top to the bottom (left hand side of piste map), Fine for skiers, however a bit of a pain for boarders as it has up hill areas, long enough to have to walk at times. Still worth a go though, really picturesque in places, but takes quite a while so I wouldn't leave it late in the afternoon.
Its going to great, 5 of us going on the 28th too.
4 boarders, of which two are beginners, so will be having lessons, so if your boarders are newbies they may be in the same class,
We have 1 skier with us too, who is experianced.
