Borovet v Pamps

have been to Borovets twice, but it first time was picked mainly on price, has anybody visited other resorts in Bulgaria to compare? What are the pros / cons?re: Borovet v Pamps
Only been to Borovets myself so cannot really help. no doubt PP and Bansko Mad can help re: the other resorts - but remember they may be biased
By the way did you manage to sort out a birthday cake? - I posted several times before you went but wasn't sure you go info. Please let me know!

The differences and why I chose to go back to Borovets
i. The hotels are nearly ll right by the slopes and no ski bus to contend with
ii Choice of two ski areas meant beginners progressed quicker - in Borovets my group were doing easy reds by the end of the week, in Pamps, we were still doing the green
iii No separate ski school for kids in Pamps which means that anyone over 8 is in the same group

EllieYes I got a huge choccy cake via our insrtuctor Toni (Anton- Samakov Ski school) and very nice it was too, we even got candles.
However day was a bit sad as a lady in our class lost her husband with a heart attack- I am not sure how far the news travelled around the resort- he collapsed in the button lift que.

We had a 7 year old in our group - her parents told them she was 8 so we went at her pace. It was very frustrating.Last year, we had a 13 year old in the group - whilst also frustrating, we progressed much quicker as he didn't need to be supervised all the time.
Try to get away from family groups - they tend to dominate your class is what I've now found on two occasions. Book me into a group with singles or couples.

Well, I live here in Bulgaria, and we have 3 resort, you must try Bansko, its been refurbished during the summer, and the runs are just fantastic. 3 hours from Sofia, great hotels, really nice place to stay.. give it a try, you will love it..regards

We had a 13 year old in our group last year who was by far the best and most confident skiier by the end of the week!! It was the old crocks - 35+'s that caused all the delays!! - me included.
I think kids only groups are great for some people but other families want to stay together. If you don't have children of your own I can quite understand why you may wish to be away from them when on holiday especially if you are a teacher!!

HiAs you live there perhaps you can tell me- the one thing that we have not seen much of is Bulgarian life/ culture how do we do this? With in the limits of a 1 week ski-ing holiday staying in resort and without our own transport?
