I agree. To many people complain about how expensive it is to eat and drink. They should take a holiday in France or Austria and then see how cheap Bulgaria actually is.
This is the way a forum should be. Even though some of the reviews were negative they were honestly posted and received honest replies from others who had enjoyed themselves without a slanging match starting. The posts on here have made it so people looking for the first time can get a balanced view and make up their own mind. Well done all

Thanks for taking the time to put your report down in a clear consise manner.
dbut, using firm time again, I've got earplugs this time to block out your snoring. I see a bit of negative input for the Ela Well all I can say is YOU BOOKED IT.
But we are still going to have a good time.
Hi David
sorry for asking that: Are you crazy man?
I did so twice before. But there is a difference you completely ignore. A normal Austrian can afford skiing in Austria, a normal Bulgarian can not afford. You may pay 8 Levs for a soup in Boro and believe it is cheap (for Bulgarians it is very expensive). But in comperison, would you pay 30 GBP for a soup in Britain? I believe not!
And that is why Boro ist too expensive and we are going to take accommodation in Samokov. So the ...

It's me, Roland's wife ( so don't think he is writing to himself !!! ). There is a point we differ from each other- we , my hubby and me think from the Bulgarian point of view ( we have been going to BG for 18 years and feel like Bulgarians as we are able to speak Bulgarian )most of you possibly think like tourists ( which we surely are all ). Therefore the gap between finding sth. expensive or cheap is pre-determined. It's in our own countries too, isn't it? Nevertheless all of us should be ...

Nevertheless all of us should be aware of the fast-growing gap between prices and service and should think about if we are willing to support it by accepting everything just because we think it's cheap.

Tourism will always have an effect on a country/area/population - the tourists are partly responsible for how it develops. We will use services we find desirable and that are of an acceptable standard/quality and not use those we deem unsatisfactory in some way, shape or form. Roland and Michaela make a good points.

I'd imagine that successful ventures/activities/practices/prices that were popular with tourists last year will be mimiked by others in this and future years while the unsuccessful are quickly dropped. Remember also - successful doesn't necessarily mean in favour of the tourist!!
Tourists basically reap what they sow on all levels of the debate.
Michaela is right, we need to be more responsible for our collective actions.
R+M - I know you will but... Please take great care on the road to Boro as we witnessed some shocking (by UK standards) work by 'emergency services' attending a RTA.
I think i was stuck in the queue of traffic for the RTA that you are talking about. I had to pick up some guests at 6pm, i was sitting in the traffic for 2 hours and the guests had to start walking down from Borovets to meet me as i sat and waited. And by the way. HOW there were no more accidents, i'll never know. As we are sitting waiting patiently, the bulgarian drivers are driving up on the wrong side of the road with their hazards on ... where they were going ... who knows ...
Calum,
I think i was stuck in the queue of traffic for the RTA that you are talking about. HOW there were no more accidents, i'll never know. As we are sitting waiting patiently, the bulgarian drivers are driving up on the wrong side of the road with their hazards on ... where they were going ... who knows ???? The police turned them around and sent them straight back ..... to the end of the queue !!! You drive here in this country and see just how happy the bulgarian drivers are to take their lives in their hands, but you know, it is priobably an unsuspecting innocent that gets killed when they overtake on bends !!! Grrrrrrrr - i've been driving up to Borovets every day, twice a day for this last week and boy - have i had my angry head on by the time i get home !!!
Hi Calum,
maybe you did not find out that we are no Brits by our writings , we do not know what RTA is. We have taken great advantage for our language knowledge from this forum, but we also have our limits.
