The Hotel Rila is basic but excellent. The rooms are lovely and warm, plenty of hot water for a bath after a hard days skiing. The food is ok, plenty of it and something for everyone. The nightlife is superb in Borovets, try Mamacitas for a mexican meal, its lovely and last year they had a fantastic live band. You'll love it, have a great time.
We saw loads of people in the lift with snowboards and skii's, so don't worry about that. We would defo go back to the Rila. Theres alot to be said for skiing right up to your hotel door!
Rila sounds the place to be if you can ski straight to the hotel.
What is Borovets like as a whole? - Are the main bars/restaurants near Rila - or do you need to get a taxi to other parts. Or is the whole resort pretty small and walkable.
Rila Hotel is at the foot of the slopes and all the bars and restaurants are on the doorstep - literally! You don't need a taxi to go anywhere. The taxi's are very smelly horse and carts anyway. They look great, but stink like hell!!! We only used them after skiing on the mountain, when we were too knackered to walk up the road. Came off the Gondola and jumped in a cart to Rila, very lazy.
brilliant. sounds ideal. I'll see you all at the nearest bar!
Where's a good place to start off? - isnt there an irish bar in Rila? - and I also heard there's a nightclub there, or do people usually stay in the other bars until late.
