Borovets / Rila Feedback

Got back on Saturday (boo hoo) and thought all the first timers would appreciate some feedback (seeing as we were first timers too!).

First of all, we had an excellent time and met some lovely people (Hello all!)
The Rila - Spacious rooms, big bath, excellent showers, clean, no hair dryer, food fine and varied, Beer twice as expensive in Bar as in restaurant and yes there are prostitutes in reception (at least I thought they were!)
Ski Fitting & Tuition - Boot fitting at the Rila depot ...

Ski Fitting & Tuition - Boot fitting at the Rila depot was easy enough but no help in making sure you get it right, also they get arsey when you try and change your boots halfway through the week, so take your time on day one. We were asked to ski down the nursery slope on day one and assigned an instructor. We had had lessons on the dry so were able to snowplough and ended up in an intermediate group. This was scarey but well worth it as we spent the whole week at the top of the 4 man / gondola where the snow was best and didn't have to risk the icey nursery slopes.
Eating Out - Definitely Bar Blue, opposite the Rila, down a side street on the right. Lovely atmosphere, log fire, extensive menu and cheap!
Drinking - Sorry guys, didn't rate Buzz Bar at all! Dingy, smelly and dodgy! Try White Magic where you will meet Christov the olympic skiier who will also video your group on the slopes for a nice souvenir...

Hope you all enjoy yourselves and see you all next year!
Tamsin x Very Happy

Hi Tasmin

Going out first timers on the 20th Feb whole load of us god i'm addicted to this site lol

anyway you mentioned prostitutes or you thought, we have a load of kids with us is it safe for them to do there own thing around the hotel without them seeing things that there young eyes are not supposed to see after all they are 9-11 year olds the mind boggles...

Also what is the food like...for kids i mean or should we take a shed full of food with us.

Hi Blondie

Was out with Tamsin in Boro last week and yes there were a couple of the Ladies of the night sat at the bar in the Rila (usually identified by the knee length white boots!) Don't worry about them too much tho, they seem to keep themselves to themselves, and the kids probably wont even notice them! The only hassle you are likely to get, is from people trying to get you into the bars else where in the resort!!!!!

Hope you get loads of snow and have a fab holiday

Hi tams,
Excellent choice of hotel have stayed there 3 times. With regard to the ladies of the night! You don't bother them they will not bother you. Am going out on the 23rd 5 DAYS TO GO WAHAY Very Happy Smile Booze Friend also going with 7 & 10 yr boys and they can feel safe doing their own thing.

Good choice of bar, the white magic & Christo, he also does private instruction, top chap he must have Welsh roots.

Have done the famous Welsh snow dance ( poor sheep) Blizards for the weekend ...

re: Borovets / Rila Feedback

Kids wont even notice any of the "ladies of the night", most adults dont!
i didnt like Buzz bar either Tamsin, but I guess Im old now at 40, and if i were there when I was skiing in my 20s perhaps through blurred eyes it may have been ok?
Agree White Magic, though small, is really friendly, and plenty of other bars to visit.
good report, pleased you enjoyed it, heres to next year1
