Hi, its been 10 years since we've been to Borovets.
We are looking to book into the Samokov hotel in January.
We are a family of 2 adults and 2 children. The issue we have is our 5 year old daughter is the best skier out of all of us.
My older daughter (13), my wife and myself would need intermediate lessons but I cant seem anywhere for lessons apart from private ones which are going to cost a fortune for the 5 year old.

Children group lessons start at 7 from what I can see and the Kindergarten's are not going to be any good for her as they are for complete beginners.

re:Borovets Child Lessons
Hi Matt,
Kas and Bobby on here should be able to point you in the right direction, I do know that there are quite a few options for lessons for the kids, my two grand children have skied with groups at Hunters and they were 8 and just 6 last year.
Sur Kas will reply, when she sees this, when in January are you out ?
It's a tricky one indeed. They are quite strict in Borovets in so much as technique is King. In other words when you say the 5 year old is the best, do you mean in going straight down the mountain with no fear or do you mean that they can carve with the best of us? I'd be surprised if the Samokov hotel school couldn't offer you what you want but then Hunters should be able to too. I have used both with kids ranging from 3 to 17. HI Emjay, she goes to Tamworth Snowdome every other Saturday for a 2 hour lesson and has been since March a part of their Junior club.
She has a book which gets signed every time she goes to say what she can and can't do. "UK snowlife ski awards" She is currently working towards level 3 of which she has ticked so far
robust snowplough turns
6 robust wedge turns able to judge safe speed and line
wedge traverse with lower ski gripping
accurately follow teachers track using turns ...

change direction when directed to do so
use lift safely
lift uphill ski whilst crossing slope
ski bunny run safely
Hey. She should ski with me and SP and show us how its done if she can do all that. In fact I would think she could teach half the invasion crew. Seriously I would think you will have no trouble placing her especially if Kas picks up this thread. I can see her meeting us all at Georges and showing us the way home.

re:Borovets Child Lessons
Hi Matt,
You are there for the Invasion week, great, I am sure that you will get sorted with lessons. and with all the invasion crew in town there is bound to be some great friends made between your children and the kids in the crew.
Just make yourself known at Bobbys Bar, look forward to meeting up.
She sounds quite capable. On the other hand, she has not used a proper button lift nor a chairlift. Unless she is a giant amongst 5 year olds I reckon she might struggle with some of the button lifts and might find the chairlifts 'breathtaking'. I also hesitate in saying that a snowdome is not entirely like a real piste for a variety of reasons. That said I suspect that it would not take her long to get used to things in Boro with the experience that she has
Please understand I ...

Please understand I am coming from the standpoint of a parent and putting the childs safety at the top of the list.
The good thing is that you are going on a week when it will be relatively child free and therefore schools that cater for kids will have much smaller classes so that could work for or against you and will depend on the ability of any other kids.
From my experience I'd go with either the Samokov hotel's own school or Hunters. I suspect that neither of them will initially accept what you might say regarding her experience and you may, like I had to, tag along with the kids for the 1st day to either reassure yourself that she is ok or reassure her. My 6 year old at the time spent a week with Hunters in Feb this year, it was his second time he'd been with Hunters and he had a great time. The rest of us, his mum, me and his 17 year old brothers went out with him and on the lower slopes had some trouble keeping up. I reckon after next years skiing trip, he is booked into Hunters, he'll be better than his mum and almost ready to ski with his brothers.
It may be the case that Sandra is again taking some of the kids at Hunters school. We used to stay in one of the apartments that she and her husband Gerry own in the town. She is really good with the younger kids and as she is English is able to communicate well with them. It helps especially with the money at lunchtime.
What about skiing as a family? Again depending on numbers the schools should be able to offer that.
