Borovets Conditions Update - January 4th

Morning All,

Following yesterday's reports, there was 10cm new snow over the last 24hours.

I am going to have to disagree witha couple of reports on here that the conditions weren't icy - Bobby was on the Rila side before and as advised the Rila red (especially the middle section) was extremely icy - he was with an advanced group and his class kept falling especially in the mid-afternoon.

Again, I am going to have to disagree with 'the other slopes at the top opening' ie: all the Markudjik slopes and the runs down from the gondola on the Yatrebets side - there is just not enough snow and apart from totally damaging your ski's, it is pretty dangerous. Saying that, the beginners are in for a better day as the Suhar has opened for the first time today - Suhar is the nursery slope at the top of the Gondola. It is also says on other sites that it is snowing at the top, however it is blue skies / sunshine.

We have already had a report from one of the operators who checks the Yastrebets runs - they are in excellent conditon today, both due to new snow and also the cannons.

Sorry if some of the above is negative, but it's the way it is and I don't want you to get here thinking more is open than you thought.

re: Borovets Conditions Update - January 4th

Just read Nightmuffy's report re: Bansko and it's practically the same here - whilst it snowed for 24hours it didn't accumulate to much as it was such fine snow, so apart from the Suhar, it just wasn't enough to open anything else.

Hi Kas

We returned yesterday and as last year it snowed on the day we left - bah! Agree completely re rila slope - it definately gets icy in the afternoon. Fine first thing but doesn't take too long for the surface snow to get pushed down the slope. Keep up the honest reporting - only way to go.

Gr8 to meet you and hope rest of slopes up top open up so that the bar can get up and running.

Regards

Alan

PS - I think you have cursed us, we are bottom again!

Hi ya,

Glad you enjoyed yourselves although I've seen reports re: drinking games...I am pretty certain it was your daughter that organised them....I was just stupid enough to play them.....!!

Had a great night though and your whole group were great fun, not to mention very good at drinking....!!

Hope to see you guys again next year, conditions permitting!

Very Happy, I just don't know where she gets it from. It was a gr8 night nut there were a few sore heads the next day - on the slopes for 8.30 the next day? I think not!

we may try and get a last minute cheapy towards March time - if we make it, please let me buy you that drink.

Borovets Conditions Update - January 4th

They have not just opened Sitnyakavo drag - which is the blue run at the top of the Sitnyakavo 4 man chair - so again, a bit more help for beginners / 2nd timers and should lesson the queues on the 3 Rila slopes...

Kas's report is spot on, skiied martinova yesterday morning and it was very patchy by lunchtime. Skiied yastrebetz in the afternoon and it was great although a little bumpy but that only added to the fun. Hope to see you in the titanic tonight Kas
