Borovets Enquiry

Hello,

I'm trying to plan a boarding holiday in Bulgaria and have just been quoted a price for 7 nights in Borovets in the middle of March 2007. Would someone please tell me if this is a good deal (or too good to be true), or if i can get it cheaper (and where Question)

- Bor/Edelweiss, double room for 2, half-board
- Flights to Sofia and transfers to Borovets (how long does this take?)
- 2x Equipment hire (board and boots) + snowboard lessons (3hrs/day)

The price I'm being quoted is EUR966, which is about £650 or £325 per person. How much else would I be looking to spend, given that I don't have the clothing bit sorted out yet, maybe apart from a HH jacket and some football socks.

Cheers!!

that cheap doubt you will get it much cheaper, lunch on the slopes sround £5 for two people depending on what you eat we tend to have a snack rather than something big. beer starts at around 50p to £1 max. spend on top not including gear would be £100 to £200 depending on what you want to do. you need more than football socks for your boots ski socks tend to be a lot softer, max clothes you would need is 3 pairs of socks which you can get quiet cheap, a pair of salopettes about £50 and a ...

re: Borovets Enquiry

Pipo, in the middle of March is a gamble: it could be snow on the lower slopes or nothing(bad conditions)..this means that everyone is up with the gondola! (long waitings)
I stayed in hotel Bor 2 years ago; very cosy and quiet but a bit far for the nightlife if you fancy that (I was in Jan and huge dumps of snow). You can offcourse always take a taxi (10 Lv one way) but then that cheap trip won't be that cheap anymore.. Confused

Thanks for the comments!

My gf and i have already booked that week off and would really like to go to Bulgaria since it's going to be cheaper than the Alps.

But I'm no gambler. Can someone else tell me their experiences in Borovets in March? Would you recommend we to go to a different resort? If so, which?

re: Borovets Enquiry

I've been to Borovets twice in March and once in January - I much preferred March - although it was a bit slushy at the bottom of the Rila Slopes by the middle of the afternoon, it meant that the roads/paths were clear and that the pistes were nowhere near as busy.

If you checkout the conditions on the web -am for March they seem alright.

We've just booked Borovets for March 3rd. Fingers crossed that the conditions are simillar to the last few years.
