Currently on holiday here in Borovets, due to fly back on the 2nd Jan, so here is an honest report on what lifts and slopes are open. The gondola and Sitnyakovo Express are open, but only to WALKERS. Currently on holiday here in Borovets, due to fly back on the 2nd Jan, so here is an honest report on what lifts and slopes are open. The gondola and Sitnyakovo Express are open, but only to WALKERS. You may see on the webcams some people attempting to ski/board those runs, but due to such little snow coverage, they are just wrecking their equipment. The Martinovi Baraki (1 run down from this which is extremely icy) and Yastrebetz Express (2 runs down from this which are good but get icy later on) are the only two 4 man chairs open to skiers. In addition to this the three nursey slopes at the bottom, along with their three drag lifts are open. As a result of this, anyone that can ski will be on the Yastrebetz Express which makes it extremely busy (15 mins queue each time). Unless the resort gets a MINIMUM of 15cm of snow the other runs will not open and you will spend the whole week coming down 2 runs as we have. Hope this helps anyone who is thinking about coming out here. Also, staying in the Moura (half board), with hindsight should have definitely gone self catering.
Well we fly out on the 8th and the forecast for next week is nothing but sunny. I try to stay up beat about it all but when ya pay to go on a skiing holiday you kinda expect some snow or at least the chance of some snow, rather than sun and clear sky's haha.
We are flying out on 8th too - looks like some snowy walking bit like here before Christmas. Looking forward to fresh air, scenary and a holiday so cant be that bad! Skiing will have to be a bonus!
Hi James, thanks for your 'on the spot' snow reports, reading these avidly along with those from Kas & Bobby, could you expand on your comment about the Moura as we are staying there in Feb, as this will be our 2nd time in Boro we are aware food isnt top rate. thx chris.
Hi Chris, Re the food at the Moura, we had heared that Bulgarian food was different to ours and served warm as opposed to hot, but that wasn't the problem. The problem was the complete lack of effort that the staff at the Moura gave us - almost treating us with contempt. We were continually served up recycled food, with the leftovers from the breakfast buffet re-appearing in some guise in the evening buffet. I'm sure we ate the new years eve gala dinner twice - the second time the left over ...

We were continually served up recycled food, with the leftovers from the breakfast buffet re-appearing in some guise in the evening buffet. I'm sure we ate the new years eve gala dinner twice - the second time the left over pork was in a stew and with the addition of chips! Apart from the food and the staff attitude, the rooms were quite good, showers excellent, bar good and the barman seemed a decent bloke. At least by Feb the conditions should be good too. All the best, Jim.
