THe snow looks good on the webcams (which are working) but all reports are only saying 2 lifts and 2 runs are open... Confused
THanks

Gen ignore skibum, he's just trolling.
The conditions aren't the best by a long chalk, but you will be skiing. I can't tell you exactly how many runs are open, but I can tell you that a friend of ours who is in the resort is having a great time, and has ski'd every day except when they had to stop because of visibility.

Banknote, why ignore skibum, he has posted an accurate article from the Bulgarian News Agency.

I can confirm that the only lifts open are the drags at the bottom by Rila Hotel, the Gondola, and the drags at the top of the moment.

Yes you can ski, but it is limited at the moment. It's not overcrowded as the locals have decided not to come and ski on such a limited mountain.

re: Borovets Ski Runs

Cool, thanks all.
Last year we still managed to ski every day, despite grass showing through on all the black and red runs, and ice taking over the blue and greens...!
And with the Sofiains staying away there'll be less queue for what is open..!!
Hopefully as we're there to 8th Jan we'll get more snow whilst we're out there... Otherwise roll on 24 Feb...!!
Gen Very Happy

My apologies if he is a genuine poster Norman.
He posted earlier on about Bansko, then comes back with a negative post about Borovets. His IP address has been used a fair bit over the last few days to troll.
You are spot on about Bansko, see my post. I didn't say Borovets was perfect, I'm just trying to reassure Gen that it is maybe not as bleak as some posters would have it.

re: Borovets Ski Runs

I'm confused! So how many runs are open. Still another 4 weeks before I get there.

Is there much snow forcast. Last time I was there in 2005 it was the same in December (I think) then the white stuff just fell from the sky in the beginning of January!

re: Borovets Ski Runs

i'm flying out dec 30th and to be honest i am gutting about the lack of snow, choose Bg as i thought it would be a cheap holiday, wished i payed the xtra and went back to austria - suppose you pay more cos your more likely to have better ski condtions.
woe is me!

re: Borovets Ski Runs

I am local and I was today in the mountain.Baby slope on Markujik,Markujik 1, top station of the gondola to the midle, the drags in front of Rila! That is working at the moment! The begginers have no problem but for good ski the conditions are still bad!

re: Borovets Ski Runs

Thanks borovetsboy, even if we can ski from top gondola to middle it's better than nothing!
Roll on tomorrow morning...

Having spoken to a man who can read whether charts, looks like a little snow might fall on 29/30 Dec, but the real stuff won't come until 4th Jan +... Sad
