re: Borovets first timer from the UK

Thats cracking , just the sort of info I need , only ever done this snow stuff once before and that was @ Tremblant Canada so a little warey of it all still.

What I do know though is I want to be comfortable, what sort of money are we looking at for say a weeks boot and ski hire and is it the fact you keep the kit all week or take it back everyday ??

Then of course theres secruity should I invest in a ski lock etc ?

re: Borovets first timer from the UK

ahh the Edelweiss. I've stayed in there and its a nice place. Food is better than any other borovets hotel I've stayed in. Treat yourself to a taxi to the slopes and back every day though cos the walk isn't that much fun in all your gear (although it isn't too bac if you're taking a slow amble to the bars or a restaurant). there are some nice quiet restaraunts nearby too.

taxis are (or at least were) 10 levs no matter what trip you take.

I'm in the Mura this year (near the gondola), and my name is also Chris. Hope to see you around!

re: Borovets first timer from the UK

regarding Cash Money...

I can't honestly remember how much I always take. Assuming you've already got your ski pass, £300 spends will allow you to live like a king for the week and still take some money home. With the cash machines out there its better to take enough and bring it back if you don't need it.

Regarding Skis, you'll probably leave them at the shop every night (Edelweiss don't like you bringing them back If I recall correctly).

I've never bothered about a Ski Lock before and I don't intend to this year, everywhere is pretty safe but then you should always keep your eye on your gear if you leave it outside a shop etc. for a long while.

re: Borovets first timer from the UK

Gotcha , did wonder if we would be taking them back or not.

Shame really as when I was in Trembant I would put my boots on the radiator first thing and they would be at full roast mode my the time I got back from brekkies.
Mind you Tremblant was -30C most of the time Exclamation

I see a post regarding money has appeared but where abouts do you change Stirling into Levs is the banks or hotels ??

Sorry with all the questions

This is the best trail map I have found, well the only one with the trail names on it anyway. Hope it helps.

re: Borovets first timer from the UK

You can do it at the edelweiss reception.

You may get a marginally better rate at the bank but I guess its about convenience for you at the time. Be wary of un-official looking booths (although I can't say I've ever had a problem).
