Borovets getting warm - scary?

Hi can anyone shed some light on the raising temps at Borovets, is it time to be concerned about no snow and snow melting?

Back yesterday and yes it has been sunny and warm ! Snow was fine for us but by the end of the week some parts of the lower slopes seemed to be going off a little bit, but still ok. In the town a lot of the snow had melted. Up the gondola I think it's cold enough that the snow already on the upper slopes will be ok whatever and even lower down there was still a lot of snow on the slopes yesterday.

Got back yesterday same as Phil. Top slopes off the gondola are superp but lower slopes, ie. from mid station and down are getting quite poor, patchy, icy and quite a lot of rocks and stone showing through. Musala pathway is excellent at top half but quite poor on the bottom half and has caused quite a bit of damage to my ski bases. A friend of ours even managed to snap a blade on the rocks that are showing through.

The slopes in front of the Rila are starting to show bare patches and by mid morning are getting quite slushy but they have started to use the snow cannons to try and get some cover.

I am praying for some snow for the peeps that are out there or have yet to go. The temps are high +6 during the day and we even had +1 at 2.30am one night.

Having said that there is still good skiing to be had but take care and lets keep our fingers crossed for some snow and temps to drop.

Very Happy

re: Borovets getting warm - scary?

Howdy, cheers for your reviews, it's gone really mild here in UK - Surrey / London and looks like it has followed suit there doh!! I'm hoping for another cold snap with lots of snow.

Are the snow cannons they're using at night making any difference to the lower slopes?

I like doing the 5km run right from the top down to the bottom, last year Jan 20th it was bit ropey down the bottom - come on snow for Feb 23rd Smile
