I have just recently added a couple more photos of the new developments here in Borovets.
The new chairlift up top will replace the poma lift on Markudjik 2 and I have been told this will be up and running this coming season. Should take a bit of stress off the old legs!!!. Work continues on the top station of the chairlift.
The other extra for this coming season is the installment of snow cannons on Yastrebets. The photo is the dam currently being built at the bottom of Yastrebets 2 & 3 ...

Hi Andy, is the dam after the Yastrebets hotel just before you go up that big hill to chair?? hopefully will keep this section open all season
I didnt have no problem with the poma's but i know will be a welcomed sight for alot of people.

Those pomas were there when i visited in the early eighties, still communist then. The gondolar was a fibreglass bubble that was powered by a huge Chrysler diesel at the mid station, always thought that was strange in an iron curtain country....It was a little cheaper then as well, i stayed in the Mura which was brand new the season we visited and i remember trading a Swatch watch and a pair of Levi`s with our waiter...... Happy days

I've just got back from boro and after meeting a friend from borosport they've said the chair lift and snow cannons will def be up and running this season, which is great news cos i've been in March the last couple of years and the Yastrebets runs are always closed.
This was my 1st time to boro in the summer, I walked to the top of Musala and have to say it was beautiful!
Walked down the Musala pathway back, it was trecherous, couldn't believe i made it without breaking my ankle!!

I've just got back from boro and after meeting a friend from borosport they've said the chair lift and snow cannons will def be up and running this season, which is great news cos i've been in March the last couple of years and the Yastrebets runs are always closed.

When you see the waggons going up there carring stone to the new chair lift you can understand why its so bad!!
Have to say Andy your photos of boro are fab. Perhaps if its possible you could take some more in the summer i couldn't believe how different every where looks at this time of year.

Hello there Nightmuffy......yes that is the area where you ski past the yastrebets hotel (seen in the picture) and go hurtling down the hill to join up with the end of Yastrebets run No.2 and then head to the chairlift along the rather flat pathway. Photo taken from bottom of run 2.
Hilly, It is a very different scene to winter!!!. Hard to imagine that the trees that follow the poma of Markudjik 1 are approx. 2 meters tall!!!......and that there isn't much showing during winter. Gives u a ...

We've just been topped up with a rather large jar of it, so I'd say we are set up for quite a few months!
Summer is growing heaps. Might even get her on the slopes this season

May well do mate, had a ball last season for a week in Boro, differs in a lot of ways to Bansko.... Very keen on the off-piste there, considering bringing groups over for the day, could be a good introduction for the uninitiated up in the Musalla bowl, we`ll have to see how it works out. Good pics, and do you know what ?? i was strong enough to ignore the advert, surprised myself
