Borovets ski school recommendations

Hi everyone,
well, we have taken the plunge & booked up for Borovets on 2nd Jan Confused I know, I know - its early! (We were in Borovets last Jan with no snow!) But the deal through Inghams was so good, it is worth the gamble Very Happy
Anyway, a question if I may - my daughter & I dont require ski lessons, but my wife (who has skied 3 times before) would really like a few hours 1 to 1 instruction from (preferably) a female instructor to rebuild her confidence.
I have only heard of Hunters, but I ...

I have only heard of Hunters, but I am sure there are also others. Has anyone here had some 1 to 1 instruction that could be recommended?
Thanks for any help. Cheers

re: Borovets ski school recommendations

Hi Carnage,

there are lots of ski schools in Borovets and it is upto you. We joined Hunters ski school within the last three years - good instructors, good equipment, good at methodics and very good price. Just google Hunters at the internet.

Cheers Roland

You could always go see Christo at the White Magic. His daughter Laura is an excellent instructor to which Snowplough will testify.

re: Borovets ski school recommendations

the race operates from hunters and there english instructors do a search on google for "the race borovets" and you will find them. steve is the fella who runs it he took a gang of us last year and there good instructors would reccommend them!

Hi,

I agree - Steve & co (ie formerly the Race) are great especially with 'nervous skiiers' but they are no longer based out here. They moved back to the UK at the end of last season and will not be out here this season.

Carnage - I have replied to the email you sent me.

Cheers

Kas

re: Borovets ski school recommendations

Hi Ryan,

We were out with friends on Saturday and Steve (the Race) is going to try and come back for the odd week but that's about it and even then he may not be able to teach. Borovets has changed this year to the Bansko system, where instructor lift passes are more expensive and unless instructors are affiliated to a registered ski school they are not allowed to teach on the mountains so the one-man bands / very small schools will no longer exist - even though all the guys at the Race ...
Hi Ryan,

We were out with friends on Saturday and Steve (the Race) is going to try and come back for the odd week but that's about it and even then he may not be able to teach. Borovets has changed this year to the Bansko system, where instructor lift passes are more expensive and unless instructors are affiliated to a registered ski school they are not allowed to teach on the mountains so the one-man bands / very small schools will no longer exist - even though all the guys at the Race were qualified. The resort will also be patrolled by mountain police to check instructors licences and which school they work for. I am sure this will have negative and positive effects, but the resort has already lost a couple of ski schools along with a number of private teachers. This makes choice much more limited for the holidaymakers BUT does stop some of the touts / non-qualified people from being able to teach. Saying that, there is still 7 or 8 schools going.

Carnage - following my reply to your email, I think Chamkoria are still mainly doing private lessons and they have some very good instructors / equipment - I will email you.

Kas
