Hey guys,
Good news! It's still snowing! Has done all day around 3-5 inches however has made some of the closed runs quite good fun as in areas it's more like 8inches becuase of thr snow cannons, and it feels like off piste, I've been told it's likely gondala will run tomorrow taking people up top, will wait and see!
This new snow has meant the ice parts have gone and what is open is good! Here all week staying at iglika which so far is just what u want!

Hey Daniel,
That's great news, just looked at the cams and looks like it's still snowing! Fly out on Saturday, have been on a bit of a downer, but starting to feel much more confident!
Thanks for the update!
Andy.
Just got back from the slopes today, yastrebetz is still really good and a few of the closed parts are still quite good from yesterday's snow. Sitnyakovo lift was open but only for the small beginners drag lift area, ended up going down a few of the closed runs and if u can live with a few patchy parts it's not to bad even te cherveno is boardable as long as u stay away from any rocky areas.

Cannons have been on all day which is good.
Gondola is open and you can board the suhar but I wouldn't bother.
We ended up heading down the haramta blue run to join up with the popangelov runs. The haramta run has hardly any snow and it's rocky, very rocky! Needs at least a foot really.
At least a few more lifts were open today which was good, haven't seen any reports of any more snow...
Bars are really good and food is great, my tip is stay away from the British stuff and try some local grub!

Nice one Danny Boy, am out a week today and cant wait. Been skiing all my life and started boarding last year last day in fact so this will be my first full boarding trip. Have cracked it at the snow dome hemel but have not hit ice. Whats it like when you hit ice on a board more stable than skis or the same.
Hi Boris,
Treat ice as an oppotunity rather than a problem, it means u can pick up a bit of speed, just keep the board flat or a slight edge whilst traveling over it. Try and stop or apply any break and your going flying on your arse, it will hurt and it's not much fun! Just keep alert and spot the icy parts! A few goes your get the hang of things!

Day 3 in borovets and it's good but I feel tomorrow maybe a little boring, I'm writing this as a capable boarder so if if your new to the seen there is more than enough to keep you busy for weeks!
Spoke to a few extreme boarders who were riding the black from the gondola down to the mid station, it's closed so shouldn't be used however they said it was good but after a hard day they have torn it to shreds so will be searching some new places tomorrow. I have noticed in some of the closed ...

Spoke to a few extreme boarders who were riding the black from the gondola down to the mid station, it's closed so shouldn't be used however they said it was good but after a hard day they have torn it to shreds so will be searching some new places tomorrow. I have noticed in some of the closed areas the snow cannons are moving in and some of the ski ways are getting ready with piles of the white stuff ready to be spread out and bashed in. I would say 1-2 weeks a few more bits might be open but if not they are setting up ready for the next half decent snow fall.
Looking to see how easy it is to get to Bansko for Friday skiing...
Anything up top is still really bad, my board is currently getting a hot wax ready for tomorrow!
Will update again tomorrow! Off to the pub to watch arsenal play!

Day 4-5 well not much change other than the slopes are getting icy in places mainly rila side but still ok for a few more days then they will be pretty tough trying to get any edge.
Other side is far better and yesterday I cut through at the bottom of the chair lift through yastrebetz number 1 run and to my suprise the cannons have made good work quickly and with the incline I got enough speed up to take me down and along the ski way and only had to walk 50m to the gondola station.

I can see that being opened soon saving people having.to get the bus back from yastrebetz.
I would seriously suggest getting a good wax done on your board before coming out, some of the ski ways are quite flat and u need a good waxed board and a bit of speed if u want to save having to walk everywhere! If u have luxury of having two boards might be worth bringing in case there is a dump of snow you can use one for any tight off piste stuff and a hot waxed one for open runs.
Today its.warmer 1-2 degrees no.cannons on and there has been some melting at resort level.
Might give borovets another go in a year or two, but I would only come back in feb-march with good snow this place could be quite good and off line there are some cool tree runs to tear up.
