I went to Borovets for the first time skiing last year - I'm just the right side of 40! Had a most wonderful time - loads to do and ski. You don't have to ski all day long if you don't want to - it's very easy to sit and watch the world go by at the top of the mountain nursing a hot chocolate (with or without brandy) and it's so affordable.
If you want a day off, there's all sorts of trips laid on so that's no problems and there's loads to do in the evening too.
we just got back yesterday , first time skiers the wrong side of 40 just, wife hurt her knee day two and skied no more, the daughter & myself were on to red runs by the end of the week so depending on your fortunes & how well the body holds out. As for having a chocolate at the top of the mountain and enjoying the view, well the views are second to none but the hot chocolate is £2 a go for a plastic cup up there , same price for a plate of chips. I am sure that the bulgarians are catching ...

Dave
wot was the snow conditions like for beginners, my partner Ruth has not long enjoyed her 40th too. I'm an intermediate so would love to know if the skiing is good higher up.
We're staying at the Rila & I've reas that the food is s**t, where is best to eat out & wot sort of prices can we expect.
Cheers
Another Dave, Just got back from Borovets as well.
Hotel food is just about acceptable regardless of which hotel.
White Magic do an excellent Rump steak with pepper sauce and chips etc for 13 Leva, The Red Dragon Chinese is excellent, Mamacitas for Mexican or Beans on toast.
Titanic for erotic cocktails.
Theres a fast food kiosk but its very slow but good when you get it.
Cafes on the top of the mountain are relatively expensive even the loo costs 1 leva
