re: Borovets

Hi mate, hope you had a nice time.

What were the snow conditions, temperatures and slopes like when you left?

Was the resort busy?

Were all the runs open?

Did the Gondola get closed at all due to wind?

Were they using the snow cannons on the lower runs?

I'm going Feb 23rd so hoping snow will be good, cheers Smile

Hi. Snow conditions were reasonable on the 20th until the 23rd when we had a good 8 inches of snow overnight making the conditions excellent. All the runs were open and the best being over at the Gondola which remained open all week.. The temperture believe it or not went as high as 17 degrees above freezing on thursday according to the digital gauage at the Rila Hotel and only as low as - 6. The temperture believe it or not went as high as 17 degrees above freezing on thursday according to the digital gauage at the Rila Hotel and only as low as - 6. The resort was busy and is expected to become busier this week and the next. All in all an excellent weeks skiing. I have been to Bulgarai for the last two years and the prices have rocketed up. Ate at the White Horse and could not believe the prices. Dearer than back home. On the piste on the Gondola side, two coffes and a small bottle of water £7. Total rip off. If you want to make your money go further then pop into the Alpina opposite the Flora Hotel. 1 lev for a large beer at happy hour and 1.8 Lev there after. They are a couple from the Midlands. One further point, do NOT exchange money from the small money exchanges in the street. They ARE A RIP OFF. Go to the hotels. The best being at the Rila 2.50 to the £. Hope ypu have a great time. Just doing my ironing for Italy next Sunday. The meals are all very good in general especilly the local food but as stated, they are what i consider to be expensive having skied all of Europe. Booze

re: Borovets

The Gondola will shut down until 12pm every Monday for maintainence and all day i believe on the last Monday of every month. The weather was fine so the Gondola remained open throughout the week. One further point, i skied back down and ate at a bar right next to the gondola station at very reasonable prices then back up for more skiing. Booze

Hi Guys

In Borovets at the mo.... Meet Jules and the posy from Wales having a fab time.
Snow conditions are brillant, will be for some time due to the good snow forecast tonight according to to the locals.

PRICES well what can we say 4 Lev a beer gone up less than a Lev wow!!!!!!!!!! um lets see 1.3 euro to the pound and with a 2.60 Lev exchange rate down in the town all things considered don't think it's that bad.

We even landed in Sofia so bonus all round.
