re: Borovets

katy's do good steaks
the green king does very good traditional bulgarian food
venice/la bomba (outside the rila) is ok if a little pricey

Ernie, I've been twice, going back in March. Food is not that bad really. Usually fresh salad and soup available. Often main course is served luke warm , but I've yet to have anything inedible. Worst I can say is it got a bit bland sometimes. Im a veggie, so can't comment on meat, but I thought I'd be hard pushed to find decent food- in the 14 nights I've stayed we only ate out once as the food in hotels was fine. Saying that, Pizza restaurant by hotel Ela has fab pizza at around £8 , Pizza Italiano by the Rila is great - sameish price. Mamasita's nice Mexican - I don't think you'll starve and the Crown has been recommended a lot to me Smile My advice is take some snacks for all of you so you can snack in the day , and when you stop for lunch you don't have to spend so much - Big Mars bar in the pocket is all we took for a bit of energy lunchtime and then ate our hearts out at hotel each night. Hope you all enjoy your holiday ! Caz

We thought the food at the Iglika was pretty good for what we paid.

We have stayed in the Rila 6 times and although the food is a bid bland it is always edible, breakfast has a good selection and evening meal there is usually something you can eat, not always piping hot but adequate. We have been going to the Derby for years too, for lunch, food is great and always hot. We usually work out ski days round lunch at the Derby its that good!!!

Hi Ernie,

We were out with the family a couple of weeks ago, 3rd time. We were self catering so ate out every night.

Must recommend, The Blue, on the road under the nursery slopes opp the Rila. Mamacitas, the mexican, lovely food and great bands, Katy's steak house, lovely steaks, both these on the main street. Alpina bar great value food and drinks, run by english couple, opp the Flora. Franco's great for pizza, but only the pizza!

But i must recommend a meal out in Samakov town, at least half the price than Boro and gorgeous food. We went to the Old House it was fab. Even with taxi's it was cheaper than any meal in Boro.
