Does anyone know if Steve who owns the Bristol restaurant in Samokov is still open?
Staying in Samokov on Podridna Street from 13th Jan and would like to go for some great food.
Thanks in advance.....
Steve is now working in the hotel alpin restaurant/bar (near Titanic Bar). He started there just before Xmas. He said that he'd sold the restaurant. Hope this helps!!
Thanks for info.
Will call in at weekend then and say hello to Steve.
Went last season every night to eat with family as was great food.
If same Bristol restaurant it was on main road going up to Borovets near football ground past Billa supermarket, think road called Tsar Boris III (82) ?
Shame if now changed hands. Will go to Bonita then on Wednesday night.
The guys above are correct and it is the same restaurant they are talking about - Steve sold it late summer and now works in the Alpin hotel in Borovets. In Samokov, one of the best restaurants at the moment (in terms of quality of food) is called Target. Very very cheap and good atmosphere. It's not one of the 'posh' restaurants - eg: Old House, Madarova or Kokoshkva, but the food is fantastic.
We like the "Starata Kashta" very nuch and it is not too ´posh´as you said. In comprison to Borovets restaurants it is very cheap and the meals are of good quality. We estimate the service as well. Concerning "Kokoshvata Kashta" you are right, we have never been inside, to shicki-micki as we say in Germany. That is your posh I guess.
You can try the mechana near the drinking house in Samokov as well, good food but nearly no service (at least last year), good athmosphere ...

It's near the river side but don;t know how to describe it!! We walk to it and it's become our current favourite as they have changed chefs and the food is amazing. When there was no snow, we tok some people there from Borovets and it was 114lev for 3 children, 6 adults and loads of drinks (ie@ approx 6 beers per adult and soft drinks for the children.) if you have children, downstairs is best as it has big plasmas and not as smoky as upstairs.
