Do they feed you or should I be stocking up on Mars bars before I board the plan?
Also I hear the planes are a little old and scary...is this true, as I might need a few beers for the nerves as well ;-)
yeh scary old 727 flying into plodiv. 30 years old. condensation, smelly toilets. no tv or radio, food isbread salad, ham cheese, water tea coffee, nice enough. very friendly staff .
Can someone enlighten me as to what is scary about flying with them? I have never flown with them so I want to be prepared, especially as my 4yr old son isn’t to keen on it.
if you are flying out of bristol with Balkan Holidays Air you will have a brand new airbus. just as good as any other short haul package airline I have been on.
food was basic, but I thought it was OK. Beer very cheap so can't fault it really.
They have two types of plane: very elderly Russian Tupolev roughly "equivalent" to Boeing 727, which stream condensation, burn coke, have very small overhead storage lockers, and are built like brick outhouses. They don't actually crash all that often (I'm not sure any have actually crashed more than once:-)) but they feel as if they might. We came back to NCL and EMA last year and, as we landed very heavily, I thought "bloody cr*p BG drivers", then was nearly blown over by the gale as we ...

(But still scary.)
Newer Airbuses are like any other not-very-new Airbuses. I mean, how highly would you rate the average five-year-old French car for quality of finish, durability etc?;-)
YMMV, but we're going to PDV again this year, third time in row, and having survived the Tsunami I've got quite a low tolerance of risk:-)
Hi Nick
according to their website they fly boeing 737's can't comment on this as one plane is the same as another to me, but I have flown with them and found their service to be fine (even brought a cat over with them)
Don't confuse their service with balkan air which is a tour operator whereas bulgaria air is the natonal airline for bulgaria and flys to sofia and possibly the black sea coast but not to plovdiv
Don't worry you'll be fine
