Hi guys
I am planning a first ski trip for me and my wife end of feb early march and am looking at Bulgaria.
I have read some terrible reports about it and some good, I want to ski and board and the apres ski has to involve cheap booze and good food.
Where would you recommend? Or should I stay safe and plump for Andorra?

re: Bulgaria Virgin
Go Bulgaria, depending what standard you are will depend on the resort, Beginner - Pamporovo, Borovets - Inter/Advance excellent Apres Ski, all very close. Bansko - Inter/Advance & in my opinion the best skiing/boarding to be had. The equipment is of a higher standard, the hotels are newer, food is the same, its ok but not to everyones taste & the slopes are looked after better. Apres Ski is good but spread out, however there are over 100 bars & tavernas in the resort so you won't be stuck ...

I have boarded all 3 resorts & would say that Bansko is the better of all 3. Kempinski, Strazhite, Pirin or Bansko hotel would be a good choice.
Dan, do you know of any juicy little little tracks we can make in Bansko, went snowboarding last year to Bansko but conditions were not their best to leave the piste, just had a week in Obergurgl Austria and it took us till last couple of days to find all the back wood paths, not looking to throw ourselves off ledges just playful stuff.
the off piste in Borovets is miles better and a lot more varied than bansko, it covers a far greater area as well.
If its off piste its got to be borovets, seriously
If you can afford it, I reccomend you take couple of hours with the boys at Method Snow School in Bansko and they will take you off the beaten track for some fun.
170Lv for 2 hours = 70 quid.
All of the guys from Snow School are Brits, so no problem with communicating.
Thanks for the info, but it's Bansko we booked, fell in love with the Kempinski and quite like the mountain, not sure we could cope with the culture and drinking involved in Borovets
