Buying Ski Boots?

Hi

What kind of prices are ski boots out in borovets?

I was thinking of taking the plunge. (I'm looking for my first pair, the kind of lower end Atomicas and Salomons that run for about £100 - £150 over here).

Cheers

Chris

Chris,

I am looking to do the same for me and the mrs, from what i remember from last year i think they are between £60 - £70!! Think you just need the right contacts i.e your ski instructor so you don't get ripped off!

Good Luck

re: Buying Ski Boots?

I just took the plunge and bought some boots here, from "Bartletts" in Uxbridge (W London) http://www.skibartlett.com/ who I can thoroughly reccommend!!!

Ok I paid £200, so more money, but the service is excellent, he spent 2 hours with me checking the fit, heat moulding the boots and setting them up for me for perfect alignment.

He then advised me to wear them at home for 20 minute periods each day to check the fit and settle them to my feet, I did this and found some discomfort in ...

He then advised me to wear them at home for 20 minute periods each day to check the fit and settle them to my feet, I did this and found some discomfort in one boot after a couple of days, so I went back a week later, and he spent another 2 hours with me trying different boots (to see if we could cure problem - boot pressing on vein in foot causing coldness & discomfort), and finally we cured it with some clever reheating of the liners and some extra padding on foot as they cooled, but would you get this sort of service out there?
If you used them for a day & they were uncomfortable, then they are second hand, so no refund.
Pay more & support your local businesses! you will get better service and backup! Very Happy

re: Buying Ski Boots?

he should have let you wear them for a week before heat moulding them.

Footfixer,
They are heat moulded liners plus I had the heat moulded insoles as well, I wore them for 1/2 hour in shop, then we moulded them for another 1/2 hour trial, and all seemed well, hence the 20 minute home trials.
I'm no expert (only skied for 1 week so far!!) but he has been selling for 40 years so I guess he knows his stuff, I was very impressed with the service anyway Smile
He has said to come back next week as well to make sure I am happy with the boots, or he will try again, ...

Are you a boot seller too from your name?

I bought in Borovets. Although they were about half price the pain was not worth it - it was a mistake. You simply do not have the time to sort the problems whilst trying to ski and enjoy yourself. I agree with Mark buy in UK and be prepared to spend the time in the shop.

been skiing for many years now and seen many changes in boot style and disg.
The reference i made to Christo is because he is an ex Bulgarian champion and olympian (ski) He makes sure that the boots he sells are the right fit and the right sort of boot for your ability. If you dont buy from him thats OK but all the info he gives is A1.
