Hi, I've read the comments on USA and Canada skiing with interest. PP you really need to give your head a bang, slopes of USA & Canada combined with the nighlife of BG would be heaven, what nightlife in BG? Think you need to get out more.
I visited Pamporovo in 2006, yes its very cheap, guess you get what you pay for in my book, and as for the nightlife... well if you can call parading a spit roasteded pig through the middle of a restaurant on a bank holiday good nightlife then I would ...

I visited Pamporovo in 2006, yes its very cheap, guess you get what you pay for in my book, and as for the nightlife... well if you can call parading a spit roasteded pig through the middle of a restaurant on a bank holiday good nightlife then I would worry. As for the slopes, being served jacket pots by a fella who had gruby hands with an open wound, lifts jammed with rude foreigners, and runs too crammed to ski, yeah really soounds like heaven.
Skibuuny, you will be glad to know that Canada & USA are a world away from this. Fantastic skiing, spectacular views, great food, and I managed to find a good handful of eateriers on the slopes to get warm and to grab a lite bite. As for the nighlife in Banff, all those who said there were none clearly didn't seek them out. Have any of you heard of the Rose & Crown or of the other gems hidden of the main drag, obviously not. The only downer to Canada is that it can get really cold, -27 one day on the slopes, but hey wrap up warm and you'll be okay. Uncrowed slopes with not a soul in sight, that's what i would call heaven!
After Skiing in both Canada and USA there is absoloutely no way on this earth I would ever consider skiing in BG again - absoloutely no comparison.
Thank you Helen,
I've booked! Going to Mount Tremblant 6 of Jan 2009. Cracking deal from Ingrams. 2 weeks in a resort with 93 runs 46 of them black! Kinell I cant wait waheyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
I've gone all funny just thinking about it sb
Pamporovo rocks with nightlife. Ask anybody who has stayed up later than 10pm. DJ's (formerly BJ's) I've been in there when over 200 people have crammed the place - same with Daks - Apres Ski Bar - Spyders - and The White Hart. Been there 15 times so I do have a little bit of knowledge of the nightlife. Nighlife is not found in a restaurant - it's in the nightclubs.

Killington had I club - The Wobbly Barn. Other than that there were a few resturant and nothing else. The streets were a ghost town after 8pm. As I said, great for skiing but nightlife - more in Devizes !!!!!!!!!!
Just my opinion of course and probably 10,000 others!
Went to Whistler for Christmas 2007. Beware it will only lead to dissappointment any where else after that! Whistler is a dream for skiing/boarding with 25 foot of snow this year and miles and miles (8100 kilometers) of wide powdery slopes (200 trails in total) with 38 lifts. Very well organised therefore lift queues minimal, health and safety consdered as upmost importance - hire equipment top quality and expertly fitted! Mountain safety staff on the ball at all times. We felt extremely welcome, safe and very well fed. All in all more expensive to get there but as cheap (if not cheaper than bulgaria now) to eat and drink and have fun.
Hey there, i am currently in Whistler, have been for the last few months, but took a road trip through to Big White, Banff, GOlden and Revelstoke, just a few weeks ago.
What can you say about these places, i have been to many places in Europe, France, Switzerland, Bularia (Bansko), and also Austria.
I have had some great boarding in all of the above, but i don\\\\\\\'t think you can beat Canada for the quality of snow or the amount of it, and then there is the tree skiing!
Infrastructure is not necessarily the best here. Lifts are generally slower than Europe, although there are no problems with queues! They are well organized and there is no pushing in at all. So pleasant!
Price wise, well coming from the UK you will find it reasonable, sort about $10 for a lunch so about £5.
My advice for a holiday if you want it easy is not to go to Banff though. It is a great palce, but you are still minimum 20 mins away from a mountain (forget Norquay, its too small). Some good terrain at the mountains though, just too far to go unless you like getting out of bed real early in the morning. I know Big White is a little harder to get to, but for a different experience of a totally ski in ski out (along with jacuzzis right on the piste) i don\\\\\\\'t think you can beat it. Along with possibly the lightest fluffiest powder i have ever experienced.
And then there is Whistler... Well you also can\\\\\\\'t really go wrong. Yes it is a very commercial place, and sometimes a little pricy, but coming from the UK you will find it cheaper than Europe. Lift passes are a little more expensive though. But for the terrain that you will get here, on the right day you will love it and not regret the choice at all. Mountain food is limited, there are restaurants on the mountains, but nothing like the cute huts you get in places like Austria. Every place is owned by the mountain and you get roughly the same sorts of foods there...
I guess thats all i have to add really... Hope it helps somewhat, if you need any more help at all give me an email!
Revelstoke was amazing. Can beat it. Steep and deep!!!
Quality place. Been open about 2 months now, and will only get bigger. 2 lifts open (1 gondola, and then a chair to get to the top) and then its about half an hour to the bottom). During the week there was only probably a couple of hundred people on the slopes during the day. SO quiet and fun, and don't forget about the waist deep powder and the tree runs and did i mention that there was no one else on these runs to spoil ...

Loved it, if i had spare cash i would be blowing it on a property there, the place is going to boom. Another 20 lifts in the next 15 years. perhaps i shouldn't have blown all my money on spending a season here in Whistler and not working for six months while i do it!!!
