Childcare

I'm going out to Borovets on 20th Jan. Anybody used any of the kindergartens at the Rila or Samokov (or anywhere else) and have any advice or comments? (I have a 3 year old and a 6 year old.)

HI Raynor,

Andrew again!

Drop me a line if you like to andrew_holton@hotmail.com

We can maybe exchange names so Sara know the name of somebody in the Kindergarden already which may make it easier on them!

Regards

Andrew,Tina and Sara(5)

We have brought a helmet for her from TK Maxx and she has now spent time decorating it with Disney Princess and My Little Pony stickers very nice!!!

We are unsure of how good it will be so we await with baithed breath!

As long as she has enough to do she will be fine (especially drawing)

How old is your child are they skiing?

re: Childcare

Hello Andrew, I just sent a mamouth message to your private email address but lost it en-route!! Bloody technology, anyway my son Sid is 4.5 and we stayed at the Rila last year and he loved the kindergarten. My kids don't sit still and he was never bored and always wanted to go back there the next day.
Take toys, books, pens etc as they are short of good stuff and just relax. They take the kids skiing, bum boarding snow ball fighting etc. I'll tell Sid that Sara will be there and he will ...

Is this your first BG Holiday? The runs are great if you are intermediate+, my hubby was a beginner last year and this year he isn't having lessons, he's trusting me to look after him, Brave Man!! Were flying from Birmingham on 27th and staying at the Rila. See you there.

Hi Raynor,

Yes, this is our first BG holiday. So we have read both good and bad reports on forums. So we will try not to expect too much. We are flying from Gatwick 27th 14:45 and have booked with Crystal Holidays.

Sara will be very pleased about the bum boarding she likes that alot. Last year her and Helena (friend she met) ran off up a hill with the instructor close behind to slide down. We shall tell her about Sid this will make her more excited she is looking forward to this alot ...

My wife is Danish so traditionaly we have an affinity with Scandinavia. Sara speaks both English and Danish which is also understood in Norway which helped last year. This offer for BG was really good value so we went for it. My wife is a little apprehensive about the child care so this may help put her mind at ease!

Thanks for the tips especially about the drawing stuff and she spends alot of time doing that. We had planned to bring it but we shall bring more to take with her to the Kindergarden.

Anything else you think of we would gratefully receive.

We have booked Ski packs for us so we have intermediate lessons for 2x2 hours a day.

We have gotten some Lev (from M&S at 2.82 to the pound).

How is the pool in the Hotel?
How did you find the Hotel food?

Have you hired ski's for Sid as we and Sara may want to ski some more?

Now we pray for snow!

re: Childcare

Right, where do I start, I'm at work, good job I'm the Boss!! The pool is freezing, bring your goose fat!! There are massive hot tubs, big enough to swim in, we hogged thoses, don't take extra towells, the pool staff provide them and the pool is massive-just cold.
Your exchange rate was good, I'll tell Al (hubby) and we can look into changing ours, from this discussion board it seems there is a problem with changing money at resort with the new chip & pin cards.

We loved the hotel food, but my lot are used to mediocre cooking from me so they are easily pleased Smile Smile
We were there xmas 2005 and the xmas dinner (fayre) was strange, we still haven't worked out what animal we ate, it wasn't turkey that's for sure, but the Rila food is good, everywhere is cheap enough though if you want to eat out. You eat in the Local Taverns for lunch, your instructor will take you to his mates place and he gets a free lunch if he brings a group in! We haven't hired skiis as the nursery will let you borrow the skiis for the kids that use the nursery, and the boots. They are very helpfull, think Olga and friends, Bella Emberg, that kind of thing and you will picture the staff. Believe me if Sid had a problem with it he would have said, I was happy leaving him there. If you have any more questions then get in touch, happy packing- Raynor & gang. Very Happy

re: Childcare

Well currently I have a little of my own fat but busy on the exercise bike getting a little fitter!!!!

Mediocre food we can handle that!

Are towels supplied in the studio rooms too?

Strangley enough M&S is (in Watford anyway) the best for currency exchange there rates are always better that the high street travel shops. I will also take some pounds which can be changed after hearing about the Chip and Pin Cards Issue. As we changed over just £200 and we will spend £82 on the Ski ...

As we changed over just £200 and we will spend £82 on the Ski Kindergarden we will also need some pound with us to change over (hopefully not!!).

Have you pre-booked the Kindergarden or just made the request?

We are all excited for the trip. I have started writing the list of stuff to take. Some thermals ordered, as this year we have the basics jackets , skie trousers so we are getting some niceer socks and thermals this time.

Are we there yet?

Andrew, Tina and Sara(5).
