Bargains can be had, but watch out that you're not paying for clothing that won't last or that will make you miserable on the slopes. Read up online for the features you should be looking for in a ski jacket, base layers etc. They'll keep you safe, warm and dry up on the slopes for years to come!
Example: I got a good, waterproof, flexible, long-cuff pair of brand-name ski gloves for twice the price as my friend's cheap generic pair. His fell apart in 2 seasons, got soaking wet ...
