Hey
I've not been skiing before and wanted to check what was the normal attire for apres ski? Do people still go out in their ski gear or can you get dressed up? Worried about footwear too.
Any advice gladly appreciated.
Cheers
Apres ski tend to be in the jeans and a fleece mould, or jeans and a ski jacket. I actually wouldn't worry to much about how you look, most people are fairly relaxed off the piste. As for shoes, trainers seem to be the standard, but pretty much anything goes, so long as you can stand up in them when there is ice/snow on the ground. Hope this helps.
my friend last year took all casual stuff, then got miffed when everyone else got dressed up,,,, I would def. take a few outfits that you would wear on a Sat night, depends where you are staying but in pamps you generally do not have to go outside to get to the bars/nightclubs... most are accessible via the underground tunnel....
Last year I went to pamps and just took jeans, etc for the night time. This appeared to be more than acceptable. As for footwear, our group ranged from having trainers to boots, and everyone slid around on the ice.
I would definately recommend leaving your ski gear at the hotel though, I think after being in it all day you would get tired of wearing it at night too
Much will depend on which hotel you are staying in as to whether you need to go outside in the evenings, but taxis are so cheap that you can get anywhere in the resort for a couple of quid.
Inside temps are very comfortable, if not hot even, and if you like to party then I suggest you bring some party gear as many people dress up for the night.
Either way you will not look out of place, but if you want to look your best, then pack that 'special outfit' for that 'special' night ...

I think i may have a completely different opinion to everyone else here... When ever i've been out in a ski resort (everywhere from Borovets to Schladming, Austria) everyone is very relaxed in there clothing. I would argue that you'll look more out of place in a "special outfit" than in a pair of jean and a t-shirt/fleece. Just remeber that Skiers and snowboarder are not know for there smart attire, a baggy pair of jeans, a big fleece and a pair of Vans and you'll be fine. Plus you'll ...

Plus you'll only spill beer on your best clothes and rip them when you fall over on the ice..... or is that just me?!
sorry Gill but i wear combats teeshirt and a fleece usually wear t shirt out at night then ski in it next day, you take enough baggage with your skis and boots without having a huge case, as for foot wear if your going to Bansko I would advice a good walking type boot for the evening as the roads and paths are very uneven and if it has snowed bad can be rather muddy as well, as for pamps you could wear high heels if your in the perilik as you dont have to go outside in the evening. I would only take dressy clothes if you are there either christmas day or new years as people do dress up then.
