Crazy snow!

They are reporting nearly 2m of snow on the mountain and 1.5 in resort in Pamporovo. Motorways are being closed, cleared and then closed again so I hope all those transferring to the resorts today get there safely!

Spoke to the other half and this morning he was waist deep in snow at the base of the mountain !!!Hopefully the transfers get there safely, cos they are going to have a fab week ....

Not good at the moment. Our driver is stuck at Plovdiv currently trying to get to Sofia! All roads are blocked in Pamporovo and apparently there is no electricity in Pamps - lots of trees down also. Wind and snow is a lethal combination.re: Crazy snow!
There are lots of trees down in and around Pamps, some have fallen on roads and others on power lines. The electric at Malina came back on a short while ago (while I was chatting to the other half), but for how long - thats a question !!!Whilst its not good for travelling etc...(wish everyone a safe trip) remember the fun those will have on the mountain once they get there

Absolutely - and remember to take plenty of snacks in case you're holed up in Sofia airport for a while - there's next to nothing available food wise there. My top tip is to take Pot Noodles - they weigh very little and the Bulgarians (unlike the British) seem willing to let you have hot water!re: Crazy snow!

seem to be better. Our transfers got through eventually. They seem pretty efficient and getting things going again out there.re: Crazy snow!
I've been told that the situation after the heavy snowfall is quite serious - not only in Pamporovo. The water stopped some two- three hours ago in many of the hotels because the electricity which moves the water pumps stopped. There is electricity in the hotels but the pumps are in a nearby village.

An update on the weather in Pamporovo.
I have just finished skyping with Jordan and he said he has never seen winter weather like today. He left Smolyan at 6 am and tried every option he could to cross the mountain from Smolyan to Plovdiv and then had to go on to Sofia where he arrived at 2pm.
In Pamporovo there was big accident with an bus by the Castle Complex. All roads were blocked, trees down over the road, rocks and snow avalanches, there is150 cms of snow and it is still ...
