We have definately seen a reduction in numbers in Bansko, especially amoungst the Brits, but the bookings still seem to be coming for the winter. It seems that to try to predict any trend where skiing is concerned is very difficult, skiers/boarders are very fickle when it comes to their hobby (love ??) and will, come what may, by hook or by crook, get that snow fix...
Just thought it might be interesting to find out peoples views...
I agree with your thoughts Steve C. As is with most skiers and boarders, it is a passion that fills us with eager anticipation each and every year and no matter how difficult things may be we will always find a way of getting our "fix".
I suppose that I have been very fortunate in that the credit crunch hasn't effected me really but even if it had I would almost certainly scarifice other luxuries to be able to affird to go skiing.
We've spent Feb half term in Pamps for the last 4 years. Last year the snow was awesome - the best we've ever seen ... BUT, up until two days before we left the UK, the snow there was practically non-existant, and any that had fallen was very poorly managed.
We decided that it was just too hit and miss, so we're going elsewhere next year instead. It's cost quite a bit more, but at least we won't have all the worry of finding alternative entertainment if there's no snow. After ...

The other issue that made us abandon Pamps was the fact that no airlines appear to be flying into Plovdiv - and that makes for a seriously long transfer to and from Pamps.
Have just been made redundant so yes the credit crunch is effecting us. We will be skiing at christmas as was booked well before and is paid for apart from a couple of things.
Redundancy dosn't kick in until next month on garden leave at the moment looking for a job, the job market has definitly changed and employers are using it as a way of paying less!!! how this will effect us long term is hard to say but we think we will have less holidays and weekends away next year.
