Dan,s Pamps Report Part 3 (quite frankly if you are still reading this then have you not got anything better to do?)

Ah now were was I? Yes I rememeber Day 1 Skiing just picked up Ski's.

Well first I was overjoyed to find that my very first ski instucter was sitting in the Inghams locker and I shook his hand furiously whilst he looked around with a panicked look on his face(crazy english guy here!). Anyway his name is Angel (are'nt they all?) Great bloke very funny and a superb instucter.

So I left the losers eh sorry that would be learn to ski group at the bottom of the mountain and took the 3 man chair to the top! Had a good first day skiing again funny how it stays with you eh? I had not skied since Andorra(sorry) in 2002 but it comes back very quick and I was soon falling over like a pro. No no sorry that should read skiing like a pro.

Conditions were good on the Sunday loads of snow. But oh my god was I hot it was lovely and sunny and the sweat was poring of me. Bit of advice here I brought one of those Tresspass Jackets they look very nice and are indeed warm but what they do not do is trap the moisture away from you so you can imagine what my jacket was like at the end of every day.Not nice!

Anyway end of first day what of the learn to skiers I here you cry? Well Bev (my sister) had not got on well Lou and Chris where only doing slightly better but they had sort of enjoyed it. I did not think much to there instructer his name was Nick older guy grey hair, earing. Just came across as a bit cocky wide boyish no what I meen? It seemed to me he was falling into the trap of bringing on the ones who picked up quicker than the others. I and was shocked to learn that he showed them how to get up after a fall but did not get them to practice!! Crap in my opinion!

Day 2 was much of the same for me very hot and having good fun in my small group just the 4 of us. Then horror of horrors Daniel fell on a red! Yes I know how did this happen? You are such a great skier Daniel I hear you cry! Well I did and I did not swear as I twisted my knee! Managed to limp down the rest of the run very slowly it hurt! My instructer told me to stop for the day when we got down and quite frankly I was not going to argue.Anyway found the others only to discover my sister had fallen as well and twisted he knee! Bugger!

They also much to louise's relief had changed instructers with Nick taking the others who where picking it up quicker leaving behind Louise,Bev,and another lady called Wendy(more of her later!) They had a very nice instructer who really brought them on well. Anyway Chris had by now discoverd he could ski (slightly) and was eager to go back up the top so like a muppet I took him back up. It did not do my knee much good at all!

The next day my knee was really hurting so I decided not to join my group and just sit at the top and annoy Louise and Bev whilst they where on the nuresery slope. Bev managed to get her ski's on despite her dodgy knee then promptly fell over and buggered it up completely! We have come to the conclusion that skiing and Bev is not a good mix! She did not ski for the rest of the week as her knee swelled up nicely. I had the next day off completly very nice just lounged around read my book (stupid white men, very good) And had physio on me knee and a massage.

Now that we are on the subject of massage's I can say wow! Get one at the Murgavets I had 5!!! All over body massages they are fantastic and only 35levs for 50 mins!! I was pleasently suprised on my fisrt visit to find a lovely young Bulgarian lady(if Louise ask's she was old and ugly ok?) Oh what bliss she even yanked my boxers down a bit wow steady on girl I thought I am happily taken! But she was only rubbing the tops of my thighs. Now I must say at this point that I was extremly happy to be having a rub down from a lovely young lady and after my turn Chris had a go and joy of joy's he got Jordan! Bloody git I thought fancy getting a rub down from Jordan. It turns out Jordan is a greying, balding Bulgarian man! Oh how I laughed at his misfortune! But he got his own back as I got Jordan the last 2 times and he really yanks down your boxers guys and gives yer bum a good old rub! I did not feel at all awkward honest!

You still with me or have you gone into a coma? I shall try to wind up. Here we go.

I have now discoverd that at the age of 31 skiing is bloody hard work and kills me I was a very tired boy every night so did not really sample much of Bjs and the White Hart. Although they did not seem to have changed much from what I did see still very shabby White Hart has never been my fave place. Did try the Big Boys Breakfast and wish I had'nt really not worth the effort unles you like cremated bacon and sausage.

Anyway we did eat out at the Murgavets BBQ place it is great realy good food and cheep 4 course's with Bulgarian bubbly £9 a head! Loads of food and very hot. Also tried the White House again great value and good food. Why can they not produce food of this quality in the hotels? The Murgavets is ok pleny of it but nothing special just about edible I shall just eat out every night next time as it is so cheep. You must try the comos bar at the top of the Murgavets Great views and superb cakes and ice creams/ coffees. Try the Bananna split yum.

I found the waiters this year at the Murgavets to be well CRAP!! They are slow to clear your table and trying to get their attention oh my god forget it. This was the first time this had happened as normally the waiters here are very good perhaps just a dodgy bunch this year?

We went to the folk evening as I always do. I must take issue with Kevin on this I thought the food was good if a bit fatty ok the pancake was terrible but the wine well as someone who has 30 odd bottles of the stuff at home I thought the red was quite good perfectly drinkable. Nice to see crazy silhouette(cant spell it) guy was still there he is mad but very clever. Oh and we met a lurker yes it would seem I am famous a young Yorkshire lass name of Helen was there with her mum and she recognised my name from the board!! Ah fame at last.

Well the days fly by dont they? before I knew it it was friday and last day skiing.
Louise' group was now down to 2! And she came on well and can now ski and wants to go back!!! Mission accomplished then. What of myself well the last run of the day was the wall!! Oh bugger I thought as I stood at the top my knees a shaking why am I here? What am I doing? This thing is bloody steep! I had been talked into it by a mad New Zealand girl in my group who was the best skier. Now remember I had lost 2 days skiing and still had a dodgy knee so perhaps with hindsight this was not a good move on my behalf!

So I set of very carefully and well I was not the first to fall, Brendan fell almost straight away this filled me with confidence as I was still getting the turns in just. Then it happened I turned my body fell that was the first of many my confidence was now gone and I must of fallen anothe 5 times! I lost count I rember sliding backwards at one point only to come to rest around the legs of a nice german. Who picked me up and some other guy had recoverd my ski! How I made it down I dont know I do know that when I got to the bottom I was a jiberring wreck! It nearly killed me but hey I lived to tell the tail.

So there you have it Daniel's tale of fun. Pamps is changing I can only add to the rumours of a lift from the Perlelik and more piste's. So am I going back? Well yes of course maybe next year who knows their are plenty of other places I want to see and ski but I will always come home to Pamporovo because well I love the old girl she gets under your skin and in to your hart yes there are moans and groans new ski's but crap bindings and boots still my binding on my right ski came completley off on the last day! But hey I will put up with a lot I love Bulgaria and it's people. See you again Pamps it wont be long.

Great report Daniel,

It just makes me miss Pamps even more. My two daughters often say that they miss Bulgaria and wish they were back there.

Roll on next year.

Glad you had a good hol
