Do's and don'ts places to go, places to avoid in bansko......

just returned from week of great skiing in bansko.some places to eat good food at reasonable prices are:Barakov mehana(just off the square),banski han(bottom of town),the mehana just a couple of doors down from the awful bansko mehana on left is superb.the happy end bar is 5 lev a pint and is good for couple of beers after skiing,with good atmosphere and usually live band playing.amnesia is a good club but dont go in until late as drinks are bit pricier and expect to pay 3 lev entrance ...

dont listen to the doubters and critics,bansko is fun,cheap and offers good skiing

Hi Foxski - agree with your comments re the mehenas - i actually think most of the ones with the guys outside actually fare worse than the ones without - exception of George outside the mehena opposite the Lion - really great guy and great mehena. Was in Bansko for the 4th time in January and had a fantastic week.
I see you are planning to go to the jazz festival - I have been trying to find out the exact dates for this year's festival but they don't seem to be available yet - if you do ...

Not a jazz fan per se but just fancy soaking up the festival atmosphere and seeing Bansko in summer.
