Having only ever skied in Bulgaria, does anyone know if the larger, central and western europe ski resorts have the same type of atmosphere and banter as Bulgaria has and would it be because that it is much smaller and therefore, perhaps, more "close knit"?re: Does France,Italy,Swiss...

Hi HornsterIn my experience (20 yrs+) throughout Europe most resorts attract like minded people and i feel atmosphere can be found anywhere. There are fans of differant areas who will ski nowhere else and will meet the same people each season so
it is all ready for a party. The main attraction though there are many of BG is the price you will pay for your overindulgence, try the same in val`d' isere or Wengan
and you will notice the differance...

Yeah, I have heard how expensive some of the larger alpine resorts can be - more than double the price of Bulgaria apparantly!re: Does France,Italy,Swiss...
I haven't been to Bulgaria yet. Going on 26 Feb to Bansko. I would say that Cervinia in Italy has excellent atmosphere. I've been there twice and loved it although you will pay more. Switzerland is expensive and I've heard that in France they rip you off on the slopes pricewise so have no inclination to go there. For range of ski areas you can't beat North America in my opinion but it is not a cheap holiday there. Went to Banff last year for 2 weeks. Brilliant but not cheap. Ski passes were ...

A little bit more my friend, try £175.00 for an afternoon, evening and finishing offat a club and this was only Zell am Zee (Austria, not regarded as premier)
Granted i was absolutely paralytic, dont know who i was buying drinks for !!!

HiBeen sking in Courchevel for the last 5 years with my kids now 8 and 4. The skiing is great, and very well maintained slopes and equipment. The down side is the price. It cost over double the price for everything. Drinks and food is expensive so never ventured out. This year i have bitten the bullet and opted for a cheaper holiday and will be going to Borovets. Just hope that all the bad reviews arent that bad.
