Glad to see some sencible posts coming through on this subject
I thought a few at the start were a bit arrogant.
I did kind of expect a few silly ones that think its funny to get hammered at the top and risk all other fellow skiers/boarders.
Well done to all those that have posted respectfull posts here.
I thought it was going to be like Ibiza in borovets!
Badbreath,
You thought some replies were Arrogant!!!,
The threat at the end of your original post was fairly arrogant, and of course was a threat!.
I stick by what I have previously said that there is not in my opinion a problem with a beer with lunch, or indeed a brandy in your choc.
There will always be people who do not know what is sensible and what is not, in my opinion the most dangerous people on the piste are those that will drink heavily until 4-5am and then be on the pistes ...

There will always be people who do not know what is sensible and what is not, in my opinion the most dangerous people on the piste are those that will drink heavily until 4-5am and then be on the pistes at 9, not only still under the influence but with so little sleep that they are an obvious danger to all on the mountain.
But lets not be party poopers, some people look forward to their holiday which may include a beer or wine with their lunch, most people know how to behave responsibly and respect others on the mountain, I believe i show others that respect myself.
Lets all enjoy our time on the mountain as we choose, but when making that choice should consider how our actions will affect others.
Be safe out there and enjoy.

Im on my way to borovets next saturday and thank you for putting a dampner on my holiday! I know skiing and snowboarding are Dangerous but most people know what their limits are..... im not much of a drinker so will prob not have any during the day i have to be fully aware of all the drunk people and try not to die!
Sorry you feel that way, I have no problem with a brandy with your coffee or a beer or even two, and my intention was not to upset anyone.
But I read on one of the posts here (i cant find which post now typically) (but will continue to look for what i read)that were suggesting a knees up on the slopes and I just felt annoyed as they seemed to show no respect for others skiers/boarders.
My wife and daughter are beginners and felt the last thing they need to see is a bunch of drunks on ...

As I have said Im sorry Ive spoilt your holiday but by starting this post it might just be enough for at least 1 person to think and know not to have too much.
Badbreath,
Perhaps if you had worded your post a little differently the reaction you got may have been somewhat different!!
Having said that, yes, there have been posts in the past that talk about party on the piste and such like, i think much of that is bravado on the posters part.
I have been to Bansko 5 times and have skied other resorts also, I have been fortunate not to come accross anyone who seemed totally unfit to ski due to alcohol.
You say your wife and daughter are both ...

You say your wife and daughter are both begginers, i am sure they will have no problems on the begginer slopes, it may be difficult to tell who is sober anyway, i can well remember learning in Bansko, we must of all looked like we were off our heads falling over all the time!!!
Hope you and your family enjoy your holiday.
Ive skied for over 20 year- all over Europe and beyond- and have never seen anyone intoxicated on the slopes- Austrian resorts tend to big the Apres skiing up immediatley after a days skiing and ive seen a few intoxicated after the skiing there (may have been among them years ago!), and theres allways folk with hangovers first thing in a morning but personally ive not seen people getting wasted during the skiing day so to say.
