Elderly skier!

Hi all,
I'm one of those firemen thats going to Pomporrovo on Feb 5th, but am retired now.
Am still very active, but am concerned about the cold.
Can anyone tell me about how many layers I should wear under my ski-wear, how many pairs of socks and such like?
Not too scared of the skiing side of things, in fact I'm really looking forward to it.

Would appreciate any advice.

Regards, Larry

re: Elderly skier!

Hi Larry, You will only really feel the cold when you are hangin about once you ski it warms you ip nicely. But If you are concerned then get a good thermal top and chuck a fleece/ jumper over it rembemer you can always take a layer off if you get to hot mate. As fo socks best not to skimp on these buy the best thermal ones you can get and you should not need anything else. Very Happy

re: Elderly skier!

Larry keep to one pair socks when yer skiing though or there's a good chance of blisters and from previous exp you dont want those!

re: Elderly skier!

If you have a god jacket on most days you will only need a t-shirt under it, but if you fill the cold try a light fleece as well. But beware the weather can change very quickly on the mountain from hot to cold or cold to hot. If like me the first time I went skiing I was so hot I had to keep stopping for beer, but that has not changed much

re: Elderly skier!

When it's hot beer is good and when it's cold dive into the chocco Brandys. I know technically they do not work but in practice they do.

Too hot = loads of beer
Too cold = loads of chocco brandy then a beer to wash it down ( dilute it)

Tremendous advice!

Thanks a million Dave,
Can't wait to try this famous hot-brandy!
A beer or 2 won't hurt either.
The only trouble is the aeroplane!!
Never flown before.............but can't wait!
