Is it now confirmed that Bulgaria will be switching to the Euro from January '07???
This is gonna hike the prices up something shocking!!!

re: Euro

Bulgaria are only joining the EU, not adopting the Euro just yet. I personally think the prices will now stabilise, they cannot afford to try to go head to head with the more traditional ski resorts as people may as well go there instead.

re: Euro

might it be the same as the rest of europe when they changed over, you'l end up paying in levs getting change in euros, getting totally confused and probably ripped off!!

hoping that the euro stays away for a wee while, as i'm off on the 13th (of all days)!!

agree with the point of them needing to be careful rising the prices to come closer to other european prices, as it'l be counter productive regarding number going out to bulg!!

re: Euro

Acceding countries to the EU have to operate under the exchange rate mechanism for two years after accession, so the earliest that Bulgaria will be eligible to adopt the Euro (subject to meeting the necessary fiscal criteria) is January 2009.

Duty free allowances as far as tobacco products are, in my opinion, unlikely to increase - HM Customs still has restrictions in force for eight of the ten states which acceded in 2004 (see Acceding countries to the EU have to operate under the exchange rate mechanism for two years after accession, so the earliest that Bulgaria will be eligible to adopt the Euro (subject to meeting the necessary fiscal criteria) is January 2009.
