One of the most hinest reports I've seen
Unfortunately next year is a no go for ski-ing as we have already booked for the Florida/Disney experience (kids are happy) but I'd prefer Bulgaria any day. See you in 2006.
Sophia airport to hotel = 1 hr 15 mins. I only changed money at airport in UK (so we could at least go out when we arrived)and bank both gave about 2.78 lev to the £. Hi Kathy
Sophia airport to hotel = 1 hr 15 mins. I only changed money at airport in UK (so we could at least go out when we arrived)and bank both gave about 2.78 lev to the £. How much you take is entirely up to you - I took £250 travellers cheques + exchanged £250 at the airport, then we used the ATM a couple of times (no problem at all) but found about £45 per night for food (for 5 of us incl wine) plus max of £6 each on slopes for lunch covered us comfortably. Clothes for evening = jeans, shirt and maybe cardigan or jumper but bars and restaurants are warm, wear flat shoes as it is murder walking on icy pavements after a couple of wines. We tried Alpine Hotel past the Rila, the Blue Bar, Franco's pizza the kids prefered the Alpine as it is west european food very reasonably priced (main course, pud, 6 soft drinks, 2 beers and a good bottle of wine was less than £40 for 5 of us). Yes there is night ski-ing but lift passes at night cost extra - runs are beautifully lit - none of mine night skied but they did buy a bum sledge (about £1.75) and had a great time after dinner on the slopes it also wore them out completely before bed.
I put my 10 year old in the kids ski school and she had a fantastic time from 10.00 - 3.00pm so I went off and did other things, the boys learned to snowboard from 10.30 - 2.30 and there were mixed adult/kids classes if you want to ski together.
Hope you have a wonderful time and chill out like we did.
Love Bev
