hi i found it better to go into samokov last year the rate was much better and thanks to kas i found bonnitas restaraunt in the town centre it was terrific and a fraction of the price in boro itself.

re: Exchange Rates in Boro

I agree the prices in Somokov are a fraction of the price and we eat there when we are on the way home sometimes.
I have a house there thats why...
Thats a better rate than the uk anyway....

re: Exchange Rates in Boro

As far as im aware (as i allways change in the hotels/banks)- the booths tend to rip folk off - offer better but actually give a lot less!
Also beware of Booths giving false notes ive been told!
Better to trust the hotels an Banks!

Agree Ian, the booths advertise good rates but then slap a charge on which you were not expecting... changed there 2 years ago and won't do it again...

re: Exchange Rates in Boro

can only go by past experience, have used crown exchange booths in borovets for past 4 yrs, always change £100 at a time so know what to expect and never had a problem but that doesn't mean others haven't had probs. Perhaps will need to be more careful this time. Agree with all other posts, change money once in bulgaria as the rate is much better than here in uk!!!

re: Exchange Rates in Boro

I have used the Crown booths which have always been ok.
I did get done once at one of the other booths where they didnt give me the rate advertised outside! They said that was their selling rate, I got their buying rate as they were buying from me! never again!
I now use Crown or Rila bank!
