If you want to avoid the queues and get up there quickly - then be at the lift for 8.15-8.30 ---final lifts down are usually about 4.30pm (but if you are one of the first people up on the morning - highly unlikely your legs will last out till then!)

Try the Lion pub - seemed to be buzzing all day when I was there -

We went last Christmas - 5 lads and me. Going back this Christmas.
Amigos bar was the definite fave. Great bar flair stuff going on, and you can have your own kind of mini keg at the table...

Hey,you're going to have a ball, have a wander around the old town before getting stuck in the lions, there are loads of nice mehanas(quaint pubs with good grub)off the beaten track so you could start in the old part and work your way up town to where its a bit packed.
Even if you are far from the lifts, your guest house should have a shuttle service to the gondola.
Enjoy, I'm heading in march and counting the days!

If you are booking through a travel company/operator, then have a look at the ski packages with them - easy way to go.

A week of beginner ski lessons, skis boots and poles hire and lift pass is around 190 Euro (well it was for us)

i'm going to bansko for the first time in early Feb 08 and am trying to find a low budget hotel room or family hotel room for two persons... dunno where's the best spot... don't wanna be to far from the ski lifts, nor from the buzz of town... any suggestions?

re: FIRST TIME BANSKO...FIRST TIME SKIER...FIRST TIME ON THE SITE!!

why not go for a ski chalet? I've used Devonshire Lodge in the past and can throughly recommend it. B&B basis with the option of an evening meal if you wish and they run you up to the gondola and back, went out a few times for a meal and they were great fun to be with. NOt sure if i can put there website up but if you type it in Google "Devonshire Lodge Bansko" then it will come up

if you get your ski school and equipment through your holliday company i'm sure you'll be fine but if you get your equipment there yourself there is a large range of prices. dont forget that you get what you pay for. the cheapest will get you low quality gear so go a bit higher, mid range prices, should see you with some reasonable kit. its importent to get some half decent kit, especially where boot and bindings are concerned. ( this is for boarding, cant comment on skiing)
