My two older girls who are now in there 20s have been skiing in pamps for the past ten years, O WHAT DAMAGE IVE DONE! I ve suggested an easy solution we lump all inset days and STRIKES together and we can have as many ...

re: FORBIDDEN TO SKI

I agree with you, what a load of tosh. If everyone took their kids skiing at half term in Feb, then it would be rather overcrowded everywhere. Why dont they get onto the travel companys who push their prices up when schools are on holiday. Wouldnt you say thats exploitation?

re: FORBIDDEN TO SKI

This is the first time We ve skied at half term - never again just getting a booking is a nightmare! and I like the way that Crystal to name but one company put on extra flights and then decided to charge £100 extra on top of the inflated half term prices!! Therefore booked indepentently on this web site and got BA flights and have paid less than friends that booked last July.

re: FORBIDDEN TO SKI

Dont let the egotistical b*******s get it all their own way, 'inservice days' are called when it suits the teachers with no regard to parents or children, and as for damagin them ! ha laying off the fags for a week will do them good!!! (not suggesting that your kids smoke of course) They are more likely to learn more in a week abroad than a month at home. Stand up for your rights!!!!!! (ok just tell the head theyre ill and the doctor says they need fresh air and no pollutants)

re: FORBIDDEN TO SKI

I've said this before, but how come it's educational when the school take the kids in term time and truancy when the parents take them in term time?

Thank heavens I'm not the only parent that has been "told off" by the teacher !

My daughter was in tears - thinking we would actually take any notice of the school leave her behind ( as if ).

Was slightly worried by the government threat of £100.00 fines though - it appears "they" either want our money for taking her out of school or the holiday firms get our money paying an extra premium for half term !

But I'm with you lot all the way - her education will be enriched ...

Quite agree with you all. I battle every year with the Head to take Daz out of school. Sent our form in this time for trip to Sunny Beach in May and it came back without any red ink questions. Either she is getting the message or perhaps its because its Daz's last term before he changes schools, then its someone elses problem!!!1

We don't like to go in school holidays, it is so much quieter at the start of the season and we make more friends as the staff have time to talk to you when its ...

Luckily I do have a good head who allows us this time off but what god given right do these people have to dictate when we take our kids on holiday?

re: FORBIDDEN TO SKI

I made the mistake of going to Andorra in Feb half term NEVER AGAIN! How the hell can you damage there education at that age? Surely they will benefit from going to a different country learning first hand about another culture. I feel sorry for parents trying to bring kids up in this nanny state nowdays.I mean I used to go away with my folks all the time and nit idnot amage ym mecation! Wink
