I am thinking of taking my family to Borovets but have been put off by the postings on this discussion board. It seems like lots of the people who go to Borovets are from the "lets get as drunk as we can, as quickly as we can" crowd. As this usually links with aggression, violence and sickness I would sooner avoid such people. Is this possible? Have I got the wrong impression? Are there hotels, bars and restaurants in Borovets that would suit a family?
well mike my family is defo not like that and were going today to hotel rila just outside of tht is the ski skool. my family ranges 40 to like 7 but theres me 14 then my younger brother 7 then older 20 21 and 19 so ill giv u feed back when i come home!
You and your family will have an excellent holiday and you won't find a load of badly behaved drunks causing trouble in the evening.
As with any holiday centrers there are late bars and discos that attract young people which I went into a few nights until 3am and 4pm and I never saw any sign of trouble at all.
There are some lovely bars and resturants that cater for you and your family which you will enjoy and everyone is very very friendly.
Just go and enjoy yourself the way ...

Just go and enjoy yourself the way you want to and believe me there isn't any trouble at all.
Richard ( Just back from Borovets for the second time this season and it's fantastic).
I'd say the demographics of Boro visitors were mainly young adults, couples in their early 30s. Although there were plenty of families there.
There are probably better resorts for taking a family to, but I doubt all the merrymaking that goes on will adversely affect your holiday. I have the "get drunk as quickly as we can" mentality and I didn't see a single person being sick, or a punch thrown.

You've got to be circumspect in drawing assumptions from the messages you see on here. Younger people are more likely to use the Internet than those with families so you'll see a bias.
We have been to Boro for the last 2 years with our family. It would be wrong to get the impression that there are lots of drunks and fights. During my stays I can only recall one or two people really drunk and have not seen a fight at all. After all if people get too plastered they miss skiing the next day and thats what they go for.

We stayed at the Iglika Palace and would recommend it, very family oriantated and very friendly. Most of the bars and resturants are also "child friendly" but obviously as the night wears on the rowdier the bars become. The are some your children would not be allowed in just as in this country. Don't hesitate book your holiday I promise you'll have a great time
i went to borovets from 15th -22 jan, with my family, son is 13,daughter is 10....had a fantastic time. We stopped at the iglika palace which was superb. No problems with food, was always hot..just watch out for extra things being added onto your bill when eating out and make a note of what you have had. I didnt see any drunks or fights...and there are plenty of other kids.We had an excellent value for money holiday and will be returning next year. enjoy......
We took our two children last year aged 6 & 7 and are heading back again this year at the end of Feb. We met other parents with kids, who are also heading back this year at the same time so that we can all meet up again. We had evenings in the hotel and also dined out a few times, with all the kids included. Experienced no problems whatsoever. I would say avoid the very loud "dodgy" clubs and you'll be fine. It was nice to be able to sit and drink with friends and have the children ...

Hi, it was our first time in borovets and we have booked again for this christmas, we stayed in the iglika palace which i would highly recommend as it is a smaller quieter hotel, we found the rila too big when we went in for a drink, so if you want a quieter family run hotel definatley book the iglika. We did not see any drunks but then again we were usually in bed by 10.30 as we were worn out through skiing. Have fun and good luck with booking.
