Scaredy Cat
Can I ask, was you wearing a helmet and was your son wearing gloves with wrist guards. I board alot and see many accidents that result in injuries where a few pounds on safety equipment would of meant a dusting off and back at it. If you were then you are very unlucky.

Also have some concerns over medical facilties. Would be very worried if I had a serious accident.

Snowy Norman,

Just because your experience was not the same as Scaredy cat's, who are you to call her a liar?

You may have had a better experience, but why couldn't you just say that!

re: Farewell to Bulgaria

You must have been very lucky then Snowy Norman !

I guess I could say that your experience of Razlog Hospital differs greatly from mine, therefore you must be lying.....but i'm not a numpty and I don't go around slating people because their experience doesn't mirror mine ....

The squalid conditions must have been some kind of hallucination that was shared by my family and I !!!!

And I must have a magic camera in my phone that took some photos that back up my account......

Sorry ...

Sorry for the sarcasm, but what reason would I have to lie ?
I have given a 100% accurate account of my stay in Razlog Hospital ,and I have shared this information with the readers of this board so that if they are in the same position ,they have the knowledge to refuse a transfer to Razlog Hospital.

I don't have an ulterior motive. This is the 2nd time my family and I have visited Bansko this year.
We returned because we loved the place.
However, due to the limited medical facilities, I would seriously have to consider whether I would return to Bulgaria.
Maybe when the experience is a little less raw I will weigh up the pros and cons.

Paul - My son had the best wrist protection on the market- Level gloves with biomex wrist guards. All a wrist guard does is transfer the impact up the arm so that you get a break higher up.This is better than letting the wrist take the full impact as it would have shattered and would have needed surgery. So a fairly good result from the wrist guard. It did it's job !
He also had a dainese helmet so all that could be done with regard to protection, was done.

Hate to admit it, but I didn't have a helmet on....BUT we will all be wearing helmets from now on !!!!
This is only the 2nd time that we have skiied/boarded and I knew that boarders generally wear a lot of protection.I didn't see too many skiiers wearing helmets on either of our trips to Bansko, and just didn't realise how important it is to be fully protected.Doh !!!

HI
Sorry to hear about your accidents. I agree totally about the state of Bulgarian Hospitals. My son had an accident is Sunny Beach 5 years ago and believe me you do not eant to spend a week in Bourgas Hospital. It too was not clean, no food supplied but to be fair the nurses and doctors were brilliant, shame they son/t have the support they need.

re: Farewell to Bulgaria

Scaredy_cat, a helmet probably would not have helped much. Helmets are great for glancing blows, but it sounds like you really took a big impact, helmets dont help that. We see the same injuries at our local resorts and helmets just dont prevent concussions. The tourists here are all lined up at the lifts at 9AM, us locals wait until 11AM or so and wait for the ice to melt and the snow to soften up before we head up. That helps more than a helmet.
