First time in Borovets :D

My gf and I will be departing Saturday afternoon and arriving late in the night. First time in Borovets and first time Snowboarding so really looking forward to it. Been little worried about the poor conditions that everyone is talking about at the moment. If any of you guys are out there hopefully see you out on the slopes or in Ka's and Bobbys bar (as it seems to be the place to go). Wondering if any of you would have any last minute tips for things for us to do first when we get there ...

Wondering if any of you would have any last minute tips for things for us to do first when we get there like best times to hit the slopes on the first morning or certain places that we should definitely make sure we go to. Glad that some of you have said there is satellite tv to watch the football....cant bear the thought of missing Swansea play! Very Happy

Hi Craig,
Welcome to the board.
My advise is
1. Take up skiing
2. Stop following Swansea follow United.
3. Take no notice of Snow Plough on here ( another welsh man)
4. Don't worry about the conditions it will snow this weekend.

And finally have a bloody good time and say hello to Kas & Bobby. tell them only three weeks to the invasion!!!!

re: First time in Borovets :D

Best time to hit the slopes is first thing, whilst others are still nursing hangovers! As it's your first time boarding I guess you are on lessons though, so that will determine when you hit the slopes on the first day. If it's open, make sure you hit the Musala Pathway (gondola side). You might end up with a little bit of walking with a board, but it's a great run. Hope you enjoy, 2.5 more weeks until I get out there and cant wait!

Great choice to board, until you get to the flat!!

The best time on the slopes is first thing in the morning, even if you have to drag yourself out of bed with a hangover, after a couple of runs this will soon pass and you'll benefit from the quiter slopes for the first couple of hours!

Remember more beer = less fear!!

re: First time in Borovets :D

my advise would be to keep off the musala pathway unless your really good .if you can board in a straight line fine , but otherwise its the best part of a 7 mile walk.its a 20 minute ski or a 4 hour walk.your choice. steve.g

re: First time in Borovets :D

Good advice, i've never boarded Musala and i can board in a straight line!
I prefer from Gondola top station down to Yastrebets 1 straight to the gondola station

As a life-long standing sideways couple, me and my partner Tracey would echo everything said by steve.g and stu83. Musala is a top run when conditions are right and taken at a fair lick. However you have to be a confident rider to get the best out of it. It's narrow in parts, some flat sections, can get busy and choked at certain points and on the lower bit, through the trees, there's not a lot of room to manoeuvre.

Get your confidence up on the other slopes, try some straight-lining and quick turns and then definitely give Musala a go.
Last Jan/Feb the snow was epic and this was probably one of the highlights of my holiday. Our group of 6 guys and 4 girls all steaming down Musala line astern was truly an awesome shred memory. I am hoping for the same again this year. Go for it and most of all, enjoy it Very Happy

Thanks for all the help guys, very much appreciated Very Happy. Manc Tom no chance of me supporting United...Swansea all the way, got to support your local team Wink

I've been skiiing a couple of times to Boston North America when I was a teenager and really enjoyed it but wanted to try the old snowboarding out and have to admit that after fast track lessons in the snowdome in UK I was addicted. Can pretty much do the basic turns and not turn into a human avalanche so no lessons for me when I get there fortunately, just get cracking on the slopes Smile Definitely going to take all the advice though with the different slopes and runs though. Ashleigh hopefully we'll bump into both you and your bf...if not when I'm tumbling down the slopes then probably in Kas and Bobbys. Chris thanks will definitely try and brave the hangovers and get out nice and early...I'm more of a Jack Daniels and Coke man myself but partial to the old beer Booze...thanks Cheryl think I'll give it at least a couple of days before I attempt the Musala pathway...try and find my snow feet first Smile Gondola station sounds like a good shout Chris and then as you say Rickers I will give the Musala a try Very Happy Thanks for all the help guys, hopefully bump into a couple of you if your out there next week.
