First time in Pamps

Hello. I am off to Pamporovo on the 14th Jan and am staying at the Perelik. Does anyone have any info about the Hotel, the ski school (complete beginner), the snow levels, the airport connection, and anything else that might be useful.

Lots of thanks in advance

Gosh, thats a lot of questions Karen. Wink

Perilik is fine, right in the heart of the resort and surrounded by all the nightlife. Staff all very friendly and many rooms have been refurbished recently, but don't expect sheer luxury but more basic, clean, and comfortable.

Snow is best described as OK at present but a new fall would be welcomed. One nights heavy fall can make a huge difference in Pamps.

You will probably fly into Plovdiv which is a converted military base and very basic. However your transfer time will be just 90 minutes compared to 4 hours from Sofia.

Take 2 pin plug adaptors, take some soft toilet rolls as theirs can be a bit on the rough side.

And just go and have the time of your life!

Remember, you can only be a complete beginner once, so enjoy the fun of falling over, knocking everybody else over, and realise that when your week is over, you will be a skier, and you will never ever be a beginner again. Razz

perelik is fine, check out goldie and mike in BJs they are friends of ours and lovely...
there is no duty free in the airport so buy anything you want before you go home. UK cigs are not easy to come by so buy them in the airport in the UK before you leave for Plovdiv.... some flights have them but I went in December and there were cigs for sale on the flights at all.
you will have a great time, its a fantastic experience my first time last January and been three times since, and off again ...

dont be put off on the first day of ski school, its a little cold as you are standing around a lot, you are on skis once you get to the top on the ski lifts, but then you have to wait your turn whilst your party take it in turns to do as the ski instructor says,,,, once the first day is out of the way you enjoy it much more,,, dont forget goggles, I did not take any last year and it was quite windy and snowed so you could not see much, goggles are very handy, I just though being a beginner I ...

re: First time in Pamps

Have just booked for family ski trip to Pamps - staying at Hotel Pamporova for next Xmas (23/12/06). Complete beginners was wondering what snow/ski conditions will be like, and what festive atmosphere there is, if any? Have fourteen year old son, was also wondering if teenagers seem to get together and socialize without parents!! Any info will be great

re: First time in Pamps

Christmas and New Year is very busy, the bars all have the festive atmosphere.
Your son should not have a problem meeting up with other teenagers, although you may have been better staying in one of the hotels with the underground passage way running along them all, that way he can go from bar to bar without you worrying where he is, they are just more central than Pamporova.
