First timer advice

Hi all,

Just stumbled across this website - proved very usefull with advice so far.

Going to borovets next saturday. As it's my first winter holiday I'm unsure what sort of stuff to pack.

What would you say are the essential items I need to pack?

What sort of stuff is warn in the evenings? Will a pair of Jeans & a jumper keep me warm in the pub? We're staying at the Samakov so I'm hoping its not too far to the closet pub so won't need to wrap up too much in the evenings ...

We're staying at the Samakov so I'm hoping its not too far to the closet pub so won't need to wrap up too much in the evenings.

Will I need waterproof footware when just walking about the town or for going on the skidoos? Hoping a pair of loafers and trainers will do.

Finally, I've read in some resorts you need 2 passport photo's for the lift pass. Are these needed in borovets?

Thanks in advance to anyone who replies, sorry for the onslaught of questions!

Look forward to seeing ya all out there soon

Cheers!

re: First timer advice

lots of high protection sun cream! I find trainers are fine. Bars very warm in evenings so won't need too much clothing. Take as many ski socks as you can cos they get very wet. Also, thermals/clothes you ski in get very smelly! errm, can't think of any moe tips for now.

Steve in the evening casual wear is fine, the samakov is a good hotel we are going sunday for the third year running plenty of hot water and really hot rooms you may need to open the window it really does get that hot.
the position of hotel is ideal for the night life all bars are within touching distance, any more help let me know

re: First timer advice

hello mate just got back borovets, you do not need photos for your lift pass, and jeans jumper and a pair if boots will be fine, when you go on the skidos wear as much clothing as you can, very cold, if you are looking for pubs to eat then there are plenty, our best one was called the kareoke bar, very nice food and people very friendly, and prob the cheapest food about, chip buttys are great!! - when the hotel food is crap the best bar for the evening we found was the buzz bar, BOGOF after 10

Looks like getting cold at end of your week so take layers thermal, fleece + jacket. My daughter (petit age 16) and a beginner wore a roll neck as well
good gloves, warm hat and something for round your neck
You will have a brilltime
enjoy

Billiant, cheers for all the advice guys. Can't wait now - Just an agonising week at work to get through!

Can anyone recommend a good ski school? So far I've only been on the dry slope, and can get down a slope o.k but a few lessons wouldn't go a miss.

Cheers

re: First timer advice

take loo roll as well seems to be difficult to get hold of and very rough, make sure you take t shirts and layers easier to remove.
