It will be warm in March though so not a great need for jumpers - in particular all the bars etc seem to be heated to Caribbean level - I have always ended up in just a tee-shirt!

There are a lot of 'Mafia' type people around - more often at night, but in 16 years I have never heard of them ever causing any problems with tourists.

Do not leave valubles like lap tops in your hotel room, you must get a safe deposit for your other valubles, ie. camera mobile phone money tickets, passport etc., lap top will not fit in the deposit box, are you staying in the Breza if so they have an internet room its about 3 lev an hour if that saves you taking the lap top.
do not worry about mafia, I have been many times and you will not even realise they are there if in fact they actually are..

When I went to Bulgaria hoping to open a small factory 4 years ago I was followed everywhere by the Mafia for a whole week.
Didn't bother me at all because they want people to start businesses so they can money launder so I felt very safe.
I made the decision agains't a factory in Bulgaria for this reason.

re: Follow up to previous post newbie in need of help

Hey all, ta again . I was planning on taking my laptop for the dvd player as i know there will be a few times ill have nothing to do for a couple of hours while i wait to go out etc. Do the rooms in the breza have dvd players.
Is the problem of leaving valuable in the room a problem because of the hotel staff or other?
As when i normally take it and go out i lock it in my suitcase.
