re: Forum Format

The way you want it, every time a post is responded to it would rise to the top. As 99% of posts on here get answered this would constantly mean posts going up and down and only so many can remain on the front page. Even if I wanted to know the transfer time to Plovdiv, unless it were on the front page the question would still need to be posted.

If posters want to know anything about a specific topic all they need to do is click on search and enter their keywords i.e. Plovdiv and they will get all the answers they need.

If under your idea, 2 people were having their own private chat it would fill the front page and nothing else.

As much as I love SkiDVD it uses the format you are suggesting yet receives hundreds less postings a day than this format.

So, lets change it and lose 80% of posters shall we?
We agree to differ, but I will certainly not be recommending any changes. I speak with Teddy from BulgariaSki now and then who is the webmaster and this will not be part of my next conversation. If it changed to the format you want then I would knock my involvement on the head.

It would bore the pants off me.

re: Forum Format

Does the minimise button to the left of topic subject work??? This could be a good improvement!

I'm not wanting to annoy anyone but there does seem to be some underlying feeling that a little more user friendly would be a great step and I dont for one minute think 80% of posters would disappear. I love the forum personally and I too would hate to see any demise but the success is due to the people in my opinion as much as it is the forum itself.

Dont fall out with me now!! Very Happy

re: Forum Format

Im with PP on this, soz Dan but alot of people, me included get a bit random in the message we post and chat with people going totally off the subject matter. IE 'Young skiers' subject yesterday ended up on Welsh boy doing the Ironing, no relation to the young skiers subject. But with the intended format it would have been kept at the top with no relation to young skiers.
If you question does disapear then re post it or scroll down. Very Happy

re: Forum Format

What about introducing frames?
You could have each thread title on the left hand side and then the content on the right hand side. Maybe introducing a membership with avatars? It's hard to get a feel for who people are. I agree that it's difficult to find information. I think dividing the forums for each resort is also a good idea.

re: Forum Format

But it's impossible to follow a topic/thread that interests you.
You have to sift through pages and pages.. If you're not open to change, no point is offereing any suggestions. . Wink

re: Forum Format

Last year we booked to go to Borovets over Christmas 2006, after we booked I spoke to a lot of skiers that I know and none had been to Bulgaria but all told me horror stories with regards to BG. Then I found this forum and started to read most of the posts. Personally I found the search bar works very well and found all the info that I needed with regards to Borovets and the Rila. From my point of view I think it works very well and as PP said “Why fix it if it’s not broken”

re: Forum Format

Zod, my opnion exactly.

Seems that the powers that be seem very oposed to change, no matter what user opinion is. General consensus seems pretty much 50-50 to me though change seems frowned upon.

Although this post is about to be added to the history books. Maybe about time it was Reposted at the top again.

Repost police on here would be having a field day!!
