Bulgaria is a fantastic place to go skiing - everything's dead cheap and although the Bulgarians don't have a great deal, they're more than happy to give you the best of everything they have.
Unfortunately, the brochures won't tell you about the orphanages in Bulgaria - (of a similiar standard to those which were made infamous in Romania about 15 years ago)

Please could everyone take a couple of small things eg soft toys, crayons, paper, felt tips etc even a box of pens and a few notepads swiped from the stationery cupboard would go a long, long way in Bulgaria.
Last year the Neilson reps organised for some of the kids to go to Borovets to a go at skiing towards the end of the season, and they gave them the donations which their guests had given them throughout the season.

The only type of things I wouldn't recommend it anything battery operated, or anything similiar which would be expensive to operate over a period of time.
would it not be easier to try to organise something with the hotels ?
top idea though. if anything comes of this please let me know, we have loads of clothes our little lad has grown out of that we where going to get rid of. we're going back out there in March so its no prob for us to take them.
right i've got off my arse and done something !!
have mailed someone about organising clothes donations. its a Bulgarian orphans charity based in the UK.
if anyones interested mail me and when they get back to me i'll pass details on.
