Pamporovo plans to open the 2011/12 ski season on 1st December 2011. In order to do this they have purchased new snow cannons that are capable of producing snow at temperatures of up to +4 degrees.
The 3 man chairlift at Malina 2 will be dismantled and replaced by a 6 man lift and will be ready for the start of the 2011/12 season. The 3 man lift will then replace the drag lift currently being used to take skiers up to Snejanka. The drag lift will be removed completely.

Ski runs are also being redeveloped but I have no further information on that at present.
Finally - after much anger on taxi fares last year prices have now been set at 3 levs per km. These prices have been set by the municipal councils of Chepalare and Smoylan and they also apply throughout the resort of Pamporovo.
I will of course update you as soon as more information is forthcoming.
That is good news Pete, thanks for that. The drag lift that's being replaced is that the one at the bottom of the black run - that joins the green run from Studenets to Malina? You'd think I'd know my way round by now eh?
Cheers Pete, that's the one I thought it was. Never used that drag as it looks very steep, tad dodgey and a bit of a trek through the trees if you come off.
Yes, it is that drag lift. Our kids were never allowed to use it as it is too steep so makes sense to make it a chair lift. It should also ease the congestion from the main 4 man chair at Studenetz.
Think the black joins the green before the flat bit - if it does It should also be a nice, decent circut run; from the top, down the red to the Brothers Restaurant bit, down to Studenets, down the green and back up this lift at the side of the black.
This all sound great but I have never had the opporunity to ride the drag upto the top, Really wanted to but haven't seen it open for the last couple of visits. Has anyone got any pics of the progress? I for one will look forward to this progress, see you all there soon, Wardy is back
Believe me Arron you haven't missed much, apart from a horrible drag that nearly pulled your arms out of their sockets, At times it was so steep you were almost horizontal and I once snapped a binding going up it.
I loved it!! Drags have never bothered me but people have had problems with this drag so it has to be good news!!
Hope to try and get over this year as Steve has never been to Pamps. We are always too busy but may try make a few days this year... all work no play!!!
