Half-Term + Boss + Boys

Providing I survive the impending Borovets invasion (26th/27th Jan) I intend on returning with the wife and my two boys (15 & 16) for the half term school holidays.

For the duration of the initial campaign we are stationed at the Samokov Hotel (booked by an experienced team leader who only goes on tour with troops). I haven’t been skiing for many years and attempting to keep expectation levels (with the family) to a minimum as I know that you can pay a serious amount of money for a dump ...

I haven’t been skiing for many years and attempting to keep expectation levels (with the family) to a minimum as I know that you can pay a serious amount of money for a dump of a hotel in central Europe.

I know that it is all personal preference and the Samakov looks more than suitable for a week with the lads but is there better (and similar costing) alternative that might better suit the needs of the wife and two teenage boys?

Their needs (boys) are limited to internet access, food, comfortable room and a bit of something to keep them amused in the evening (in that order).

One final thing – both lads (6ft 2in) occasionally partake in a couple of beers at home and don’t mind joining in a sociable atmosphere. Will they be able to have 1 or 2 beers and are they expected to vacate bars at a certain time?

Regards,

(A rather giddy) Warrant Officer Peach

re: Half-Term + Boss + Boys

Hi Peach,
I recently stayed in the ELA , room great with balcony, breakfast ok but evening meal awful. I would only use this hotel on B and B basis but it is in a great location. The Samokov is opposite very near the Gondala, good location and although I have never stayed there lots from the forum have so they will let you know I am sure. I have had lots of late nights in Bobbys bar with my 10 yr old in tow, with no issues. As for the evening entertainment there is night skiing, ski doos, ...

As for the evening entertainment there is night skiing, ski doos, quad bikes, sledging, etc etc I am sure this list will get added to. As for an occasional beer I will let Kas answer that one as not sure.
Hope this helps , maybe bump into you in Bobbys over half term.
John, Cheryl and James

Hello Peach
I've been going to Boro for years both with mates and family. As I happens I met John (above) last year. I have stayed in the Samokov and found it ok and actually often use the reception area as a place to meet in the afternoons. I'd say like with many places out there, get down early for meal times to get the best and warmest choice. Even places like the Samokov run out. I've satyed at the Ela too and found it ok but my fav is the Iglika. It may be that it will be availability ...

These days my family and my mates come out at the same time and we will be there during half term. My twin 16 year old stepsons will be celebrating their 17th birthdays out there. It really is a great place for kids and your boys will have plenty of what they want don't you worry and they can have a drink too but you may want to keep an eye out as at 6ft2 I reckon that they may look older then they are and they could be enticed (by some interesting ladies with flyers) into one or two of the more 'interesting' establishments which your wife might not want her sons to go into. See you in Bobby's maybe

Hi Peach,

We are at the Flora second year running, and find it OK,
Stayed at the Rila previous but like the Flora, evening meal not up to much but all hotels the same.
Bonus is that Flora is just across the road from Bobbys!!

re: Half-Term + Boss + Boys

Thanks for the info so far everybody - sounds like all will be OK providing I stick to the above mentioned hotels and promptly get to meal times.

Any other advice / guidance is gratefully accepted.

Kind Regards, W.O. Peach

EMJAY - It will be funny to see the look on my boys faces when they get approached by the aforementioned "ladies with flyers". They like to think they are really macho but actually still wet behind the ears. Confused

Man Tom - Firstly looking to pack some contraband in the form of S&V Discos and secondly beware of new boy Sturridge - brought up in a "Massive" club he might just be what they need to partner KKK up front. Wink

2 weeks to go.... Booze
