Mike, my mate and I stayed in the Olymp a couple of years ago, and the only thing to really complain about was the food, which on some days was warm enough to be called 'cold'! For us it was a bit of a bind staggering down the mountain and back in the evening (taxi only 3 quid, but got beer-stubborn on a few occasions!). For families, it might be considered a good thing or not to be away from the main hussle and bussle? For daytime, you have your own ski-lift right outside the hotel to take you down so you can shake off the after-effects of the previous night before your lesson! Things may have changed with the food, but for us we would not beg to be booked there again. But you will also read similar reports of other hotels, of course! Good luck in your choice.

No, no. The Pampergodo snow lizard has survived for years in the freezing conditions of Bulgaria. It camouflages so well with the background, the only way to spot it is to look for two skis in a large 'V' shape, ambling slowly down the mountain with one pole pointing forward and the other aiming back and up into the air. Quite often the skis can be seen to actually manoevre from this 'V' position to approx. 25 metres apart, while both poles remain together. Didn't you do ANY natural history at school??
